    Remember the name, Archie Atkinson.

The 20-year-old Brit produced an absolutely stand-out ride this morning as he smashed the men's C4 4km pursuit world record in qualifying - 4:17.700, five seconds quicker than the previous best.

Atkinson, the world champion in this discipline, faces Jozef Metelka - whose record he just eviscerated - in the gold medal race.

Following his own gold medal yesterday - and revelation about being hit by a car while preparing in Paris - Jaco van Gass was also back on track today.

He set a new C3 1km time trial world record - 1:05.083 - as he qualified fourth fastest for the C1-3 final this afternoon. A track cycling medal double remains on for the British army veteran.

Unfortunately, GB's former C1 world champion Fran Brown failed to make it through qualifying for the women's C1-3 500m time trial.

Brown, on her Paralympic debut, could only finish eighth fastest with the top six progressing to the medal races.

It was also bad news for Blaine Hunt, who was unable to follow up his C4-5 time trial silver as he failed to reach the medal races in the C5 4,000m pursuit.

There are 49 gold medals to be won on Saturday, with ParalympicsGB in contention in a number of events.

Alice Tai goes in the S8 100m backstroke (17:06) as the fastest in the world and a strong favourite to win her first individual Paralympic gold.

Meanwhile 13-year-old Iona Winnifrith, the youngest member of the GB team at the Games, will aim to make the final of the women’s SM7 200m individual medley (19:10).

Rising cycling star Archie Atkinson will be hoping to add the Paralympic title to his world gold in the C4 4,000m individual pursuit (14:01) while Jaco van Gass will be hoping to add a second gold in the men’s C1-3 1,000m time trial (13:02).

At the Stade de France, both Thomas Young and Sophie Hahn will be aiming to hold on to their T38 100m crowns (18:25 and 19:11). And after failing to win a medal in Rio and Tokyo, can a resurgent David Weir finish on the podium in the T54 5,000m (19:39)?

In Para-archery, defending champion Phoebe Paterson Pine and Jodie Grinham, who is seven months pregnant, will hope to challenge for medals in the women’s compound.
