AFC Telford United plan for Conference North promotion

AFC Telford have made a bold statement in their plan for a quick return to non-league football's top flight by setting Conference Premier prices for 2014-15 season tickets.

The Bucks' pricing structure "reflects the increased number of games and higher standard of football they will face if they get promoted".

Telford went down to Conference North a year ago, going 28 games without a win.

But they are well placed to return, in second place behind North Ferriby.

With nine games left, they trail the leaders by just a point in the battle for the one automatic promotion place.

And, even if they fail to win the league, Liam Watson's side would have every right to feel confident of obtaining the other promotion place going into the end-of-season play-offs.

Ahead of Saturday's home game with relegation-threatened Oxford City, they currently stand 12 points clear of sixth-placed Boston United - and nine ahead of third-placed Hednesford.

"We realise that we have to make an assumption about being promoted so that we can set the season ticket prices," said a club statement.

"In setting these prices we're aiming to maintain a competitive team should we be promoted, which is our aim."

But Telford have offered a refund to fans, if they fail to win promotion.

"We guarantee that, if we ultimately remain in the Conference North, we'll make a refund to anybody who has purchased an early bird season ticket at these prices," added the statement.
