Truro City's win lifted them two point above the relegation places in National League South

Truro City manager Paul Wotton says his side's 3-1 win over St Albans City capped a great week for the club.

The National League South side was bought by the Canadian-based consortium that owns Cornwall RLFC from former owners, the Cornish Pirates.

Their first decision was to hand Wotton a new 'long-term contract' as City boss and he saw his side earn back-to-back wins for the first time since August.

The victory lifted Truro out of the relegation places.

Andrew Neal scored a penalty in first-half stoppage time to put Truro 1-0 up at the break before Will Dean added a second five minutes after the restart.

Adam Porter's goal sealed the win 11 minutes from full-time before George Hoddle grabbed a consolation for the visitors in stoppage time.

"It's the end to a really, really tremendous week for Truro City," Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"Six points from six, new progressive owners, we're going back to Truro next season.

"We're in football to win games and have good times and you have to enjoy them when they come around, and I hope the boys enjoy their night tonight because I thought they were great.

"We were positive and front-footed and that's when we're at our best when we're doing that."

The win gave Truro a lift as they prepare to travel to face third-placed Maidstone United on Tuesday night.

The Stones beat League Two side Barrow 2-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday and will be at home to either Stevenage or Port Vale in the third round.

"We're away to Maidstone on Tuesday night, which is an outrageous fixture - to go on the day to Maidstone to a full-time team and try and get something," he added.

"So six points form six alleviates the pressure of that game a little bit, so that was really important.

"Let's enjoy the week, there's bene too much negativity surrounding the club at times, so it's nice to have a positive week."
