Iceland international midfielder Stefan Teitur Thordarson has signed a three-year contract with Preston North End.
The 25-year-old, who moves to Deepdale from Danish club Silkeborg, has won 20 full caps for his country, including their 1-0 victory against England at Wembley last month.
He started out with hometown club Akranes before moving to Silkeborg in 2020, making more than 100 appearances for the club and helping them to a Danish Cup success last season.
“Stefan came to our attention through our scouting department, and we’ve watched him closely ever since,” said Preston manager Ryan Lowe.
“We knew there were a couple of other Championship clubs in for him too, so it’s brilliant that he’s chosen us. Stefan’s powerful, strong and physical and he’ll bring a different dimension to our team.”
The Icelander is Preston’s second signing of the summer, following a year-long loan deal for Leeds forward Sam Greenwood.
The signing is subject to international clearance, with Preston holding an option to extend the midfielder’s contract by a further season.
