Llanelli Town's promotion to the Cymru Premier has been confirmed after they were granted a Tier 1 licence.

The Reds clinched the Cymru South title by earning a 1-1 draw at Cambrian United last Friday, with rivals Trethomas Bluebirds losing 1-0 at Afan Lido.

The Football Association of Wales' (FAW) First Instance Body (FIB) met on 8 April to assess the licences, with the Stebonheath Park outfit among 16 successful applicants for an FAW Tier 1 licence, which is required to play in the Welsh domestic top flight.

Colwyn Bay and Airbus UK - who are the only sides in contention for the Cymru North title on the final weekend of the campaign - have also been granted Tier 1 licences, meaning the champions will be promoted.

All 12 clubs competing in the 2024-25 Cymru Premier have been granted Tier 1 licences for the 2025-26 season.

Cymru South club Carmarthen Town join fellow second-tier sides Llanelli, Colwyn Bay and Airbus UK in being granted an FAW Tier 1 licence for next season.

Bala Town, Barry Town United, Caernarfon Town, Cardiff Met University, Connah's Quay Nomads, Haverfordwest County, Penybont and champions The New Saints have also achieved Uefa licences, which are required for clubs who qualify for European competitions.

Clubs are assessed on a range of criteria, including social and environmental sustainability, infrastructure, personnel and administration.

Those who have been refused a licence by the FIB have 10 days to submit an appeal.
