  1. Mooney rescues Aussies from shock against Pakistanpublished at 17:30 BST 8 October

That's your lot for today, folks!

Australia made things very tricky for themselves but, thanks to Beth Mooney's brilliant hundred, came through to beat Pakistan comfortably and move to the top of the table.

The Women's World Cup action continues tomorrow with co-hosts India taking on South Africa. Join us again for that one at 10:15 BST. Until then, goodbye!

  2. 'One of the best innings I have seen'published at 17:30 BST 8 October

Australia captain Alyssa Healy, speaking to media: "Two points is going through my head and we will move on."

On Beth Mooney's performance: "That is, hands down, one of the best innings I have seen Mooney play. Thanks to her we got ourselves on the board. We would have settled for 150 but thanks to her and Kingy we got to 200."

On her team's performance: "We played a little how we expected but disappointed that we got out in similar fashions [to previous games] as we went down the order. We will learn form that and now have to switch on for a new venue."

On the squad's depth: "It's credit to our depth, talked about how everyone in our squad can do that and about how everyone can create partnerships. We probably created those partnerships a little bit too late down the order.

"We have made so many positives, so we won't dwell on our mistakes that we made tonight."

  3. 'Energy has to be same as first 20 overs, all innings'published at 17:25 BST 8 October

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana: "I think we were on top for the first 20 overs. After that, Beth Mooney played well and our girls' energy was down. We need to improve on that.

"If you are on top after 20 overs, you need to stay on top until the last ball. We needed the same energy as the first 20 overs. The way Mooney played was awesome to watch but our energy needs to be improved.

"Today shows that our bowlers can get on top. We need to discuss with our batters because we need more batters to bat long. So we will chat together."

  4. 'It was about getting a partnership going'published at 17:22 BST 8 October

Australia century-maker Beth Mooney: "We were in a tricky situation when I was batting, there was a lot of questions from me to the bench on what I needed to do.

"The messaging from the sideline was just about trying to get a partnership going. If you are committed to a certain style of play and method that is working, you have to keep going.

"Pakistan's bowlers bowled really well, they spun the ball and some didn't turn but we had to try really hard.

"For me it was sitting deep in my crease and hitting the ball as late as I could. There was a couple of balls that turned but I managed to get away."

On Alana King: "She was incredible getting up and down and they hitting plenty of runs at the back end. Kingy is a breath of fresh air and how can you not smile when you see someone hit a ball like that."

Australia are unbeatable. Even when they're in disarray, seemingly down and out, they have the depth of talent to bounce back.

If you missed it, it's worth watching the best of Beth Mooney's innings. Real composure from the left-hander with Australia reeling at 76-7...

No messing about out in Colombo where, unsurprisingly, Beth Mooney is named player of the match for her wonderful century to take Australia out of trouble.

We'll have quotes from the Aussie match-winner shortly.

It was a bit shaky. Not long ago, Australia looked like they were on the ropes. Beth Mooney pulled her team out of the darkness.

It's been a really clinical performance from Australia with the ball.

  9. wicket

Australia win by 107 runspublished at 36.3 overs

Shamim b Sutherland 15 (Pak 114 all out)

    Job done for Australia.

Annabel Sutherland goes back to basics: full and straight. Rameen Shamim plays all round it and the ball crashes into middle stump.

Pakistan gave them a scare but Australia come through to win by what looks a very comfortable margin in the end. The reality is that there was a hefty amount of discomfort in their innings, though.

  10. Pak 113-9published at 36 overs

    Target 222

Number 11 Sadia Iqbal gets off the mark with a single off Alana King, who continues to threaten.

Australia are on course for a victory that will take them back to the top of the table but they have shown a couple of unexpected vulnerabilities in the two games they've got onto the field.

Still, that has also allowed them to show some of their greatest strengths as well.

  11. Pak 112-9published at 35 overs

    Target 222

Annabel Sutherland nearly finishes the job for Australia as a short ball is fended off by Rameen Shamim.

The ball loops into the covers but drops short of the onrushing fielder. Still one more to get.

Wonderful leg-spinner's wicket there for Alana King. Nine wickets down and now Australia are searching for that final wicket.

    Nashra c Healy b King 11 (Pak 111-9)

    Edged and gone - that's a beauty!

Big drift into the right-handed Nashra Sandhu to draw her into the shot, then late dip before the ball rips away from the batter.

Everything a leg-spinner could want and it's the third such ball in the over from Alana King - and this time she finds the edge.

    Nine down, one to go...

It feels like this game is dragging and meandering to an inevitable finish.

  15. Pak 110-8published at 33 overs

    Target 222

Maiden from Annabel Sutherland who mixes it up throughout the over.

There are a couple of bouncers from round the wicket to go with a couple of length balls on off stump.

Still no wicket and on we go.

  16. Pak 110-8published at 32 overs

    Target 222

Double change for Australia with Alana King also back into the attack.

Still they can't find the breakthrough, though. It's been nearly 10 overs since the eighth wicket went down.

  17. Pak 109-8published at 31 overs

    Target 222

Annabel Sutherland returns to the attack and keeps Pakistan to just a pair of singles.

This partnership between Rameen Shamim and Nashra Sandhu is now worth 23 as they continue to frustrate Australia.

No wonder Pakistan want to drag this game out for as long as possible, they don't play again for another week - a long time in tournament cricket.

So Australia CAN have a wobble... I bet England would settle now to chase 221 when we play them.

Theoretically the game is very much still on, but with eight down this is a very difficult task for Pakistan.

  20. Pak 107-8published at 30 overs

    Target 222

Ash Gardner tries out a bouncer - something we're seeing a bit more from spinners as a surprise delivery these days, I've definitely seen Joe Root bowl a few - but it's too wide and Nashra Sandhu cuts in front of square for two.

That ticks off another milestone for Pakistan as they reach 100. Nashra then sends the ball to the deep third boundary with a thick outside edge.

Time for drinks, after which there will be another 20 overs for Pakistan to try and score another 115 runs.
