Nottingham Forest have got nine Premier League games remaining and they're one of eight who can still win the FA Cup.

Seven out of Forest's nine Premier League games are against opposition who are in the bottom half of the table.

Chelsea are five points off Nuno Espirito Santo's side and they visit the City Ground on the final day of the season:

    • 1 Apr: Nottingham Forest v Manchester United
    • 5 Apr: Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest
    • 12 Apr: Nottingham Forest v Everton
    • 21 Apr: Tottenham v Nottingham Forest
    • 26 Apr: Nottingham Forest v Brentford

  3. A year on from Forest's deducted pointspublished at 15:24 Greenwich Mean Time

So, how many points have Nottingham Forest won since their deducted points last season?

Forest were left with a tally of 21 points after that deduction. They managed to avoid the drop after adding 11 more points to their reduced tally - finishing on 32 points.

They currently sit with 54 points in the Premier League meaning Nuno Espirito Santo's men have won 86 points in the two campaigns since their points deduction.

According to Opta's supercomputer, Nottingham Forest have a 42.9% chance of finishing third, which will see them secure Champions League football next year.

It's been quite the year for Nottingham Forest fans.

From being fined and deducted points, they appointed an ex-Premier League referee as an advisor, claimed a Premier League referee was a Luton Town fan and nearly got relegated.

To now, eyeing European nights at the City Ground, it's fair to say it's been very eventful.

Of course, at some point, it would be good to have Poch back for a second season. But are we really that impatient as a fanbase? At the beginning of his first season, people couldn't stop singing Ange's name and now to see the way he's being treated is disgusting. If we want to compete, then there has to be an element of patience regarding the rebuilding, otherwise, we will never improve. For some reason, within all this, the fans are not willing to play their part.

  5. Can Forest hold their league position?published at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time

Just 12 months later and Forest are on the brink of a remarkable achievement as they close in on Champions League qualification, having also reached the FA Cup quarter finals.

Third in the Premier League with nine games left and a six-point advantage to Manchester City in fifth - the likely final place for a Champions League spot - there are no signs that Forest will implode from here.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has fostered a spirit which has propelled Forest into the top four as they chase a return to Europe for the first time since 1995-96 under Frank Clark.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels told BBC Sport: "It's the gaffer who started it at the beginning of the season. Bringing that togetherness."

Exactly one year ago, Nottingham Forest were deducted four points and dropped into the Premier League's relegation zone.

The profit and sustainability breach - and punishment which came on 18 March, 2024 - put Forest's top flight future in jeopardy.

The club breached the threshold of £61m by £34.5m while an appeal two months later failed.

It added to a chaotic end to a season, which finished with Forest eventually beating the drop by six points and finishing 17th.

    Phil McNulty Q&A

    Phil McNulty

Mike: Phil. Looking at the World Cup Qualifying fixtures, do you agree that England should have maximum points come the end? The squad appears strong this time but are we faced with the same old issues trying to click the stars together? How can England become more cohesive as a team?

Serbia will be tough but England should be targeting maximum points from a group that also includes Albania, Latvia and Andorra. It is a very achievable target.

The latter question is a job for Thomas Tuchel. It is exactly why he has been appointed, namely to find a way and a system for England’s players that will actually get them over the line rather than falling short again.

Pochettino would be welcome back. We played great football under him. Ange ball is entertaining and a great watch during the game, sadly though the final result isn't so promising. We could defend a lot better under his management.

Christian Eriksen has told Danish media that "in my head I'm prepared to find something new" when asked if he expects to stay at Manchester United when his current contract ends this summer.

The Denmark midfielder was speaking with TV2 ahead of his country's Nations League quarter-final against Portugal.

"I haven't heard anything," said the 33-year-old, on contract negotiations with United. "And when I don't, I assume that the collaboration stops."

Eriksen added that he was not ready to return to the Danish SuperLiga, and would not consider a move to the United States.

On whether he had any firm plans beyond the end of this season, Eriksen said: "I haven't thought much about it. In my head I'm prepared to find something new. What that will be is not something I've decided yet.”

Pickford 'superior' goalkeeperpublished at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time

Gary, Uxbridge: If you genuinely believe Pickford is a top level keeper how do you explain the fact no top level club has bought him? Manchester United and Chelsea have both needed keepers and Everton needed money. Surely if he were elite he'd have moved by now?

Hello Gary. My answer to you would be that Manchester United’s goalkeeper is Andre Onana and Chelsea’s is Robert Sanchez.

Pickford is superior to both in my opinion, so that might just be their loss.

It’s all a matter of that opinion, though, isn’t it? Erik ten Hag knew Onana from Ajax and I simply do not think Sanchez is good enough for a team seeking the biggest prizes, whereas Pickford is.

And could we consider the fact that Pickford might just be very happy and settled at Everton? He has certainly been kept busy for the last few seasons – in fact I would go as far as to suggest Everton would be in the Championship without him.

As the old saying goes, all about opinions Gary.

Pochettino’s being pretty disrespectful to Postecoglou. However far into the future he’s claiming to be talking about, he’s being unfair to the man in place. You have to wonder whether this is being encouraged by the Spurs hierarchy, to test the water with the fans.

  14. What is Pochettino's current position?published at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is currently the head coach of the USA national team. He was named in his new position on the 10th of September 2024 following the sacking off Gregg Berhalter.

The decision came after the poor showing by USA in Copa America, and with the 2026 World Cup in mind - since they are one of the host nations.

The first two games in charge brought mixed bag of results. They beat Panama 2-0 at home and followed that up with a 2-0 loss to Mexico. Both were friendlies.

Since then, he's overseen four games. First - a two-legged tie against Jamaica in the CONCACAF Nations League. Pochettino's side beat Jamaica 5-2 on aggregate.

The other two were friendlies against Venezuela and Costa Rice and they won both with the respective score lines of 3-1 and 3-0.

The former Chelsea manager is now preparing his side to take on Panama in the semi finals of the CONCACAF Nations League.

  15. 'We split very well' - Pochettino sheds light on his departure from Spurspublished at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time

Mauricio Pochettino spoke about his relationship with Daniel Levy: "It's true after nearly six years with all that we lived together, it was tough because of all the ups and downs and emotional things that we lived.

"We split very well. One thing was professional, another personal and now, like the day after we left Tottenham, we always have a very, very good relationship."

The former Spurs boss also opened up about his exit from city rivals Chelsea last year: "Always when something doesn't work it's better to stop and to look at different things and I think it was the best decision for both sides.

"I think both sides were happy to split and then to be open to see different options, and different options appear."

Pochettino was also linked with the England job: "It's a privilege to be head coach of the England national team but the timings sometimes are not the same - in the moment you can be available, the option disappears."

The Argentine said the idea of managing the host country for the 2026 World Cup was too good to turn down: "Being the national coach of the USA with the World Cup in 2026, for a coaching staff like us after many years working in clubs, it was a great opportunity to challenge ourselves.

"When the offer arrived, it was easy to say 'yes'."

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says he would like to return to the north London club one day.

The 53-year-old managed Spurs between 2014 and 2019, leading the club to a second-place finish in the Premier League in 2016, the 2015 EFL Cup final and the 2019 Champions League final.

He was sacked in November 2019, couple of months after a Champions League final appearance.

"When I left the club I always remember one interview I said I would like one day to come back to Tottenham," the Argentine told Sky Sports.

"I am in the USA, so I am not going to talk about that now - but what I said then I still, after six years or five years, feel in my heart. Yes, I would like one day to come back."

David, Liverpool: Why is no one apparently questioning the inclusion of Jarell Quansah? More big team bias when he's only played ten Premier League games this season and you have someone like Branthwaite who is infinitely more deserving.

Hi David. I was surprised Branthwaite was not in the squad as he has been outstanding recently, while Quansah has hardly been a regular at Liverpool this season, but Thomas Tuchel clearly believes the latter is a better pick.

Quansah is a very good young player, as is Branthwaite and I can see them both in future squads.

Graham, Essex: With the World Cup next year, is it coming home? I think quarter-finals at best if the first selection is to go by. Also think the World Club Championship and next season will kill our players too.

Early days to be making those sorts of predictions, Graham, but I believe England should be among the favourites with the players Thomas Tuchel has at his disposal. He has effectively been hired to win the World Cup with an 18-month contract.

It is only his first squad, and a lot can happen between now and when the final squad selection is made – should England qualify of course.

I think quarter-finals should be the very minimum requirement.

  19. What formation will Tuchel play? Three at the backpublished at 14:11 Greenwich Mean Time

But could we see Thomas Tuchel play a three-man defence?

Chelsea fans will certainly be used to that, with Tuchel primarily using a back three during his 100 games in charge of the Blues.

It was that formation which led to a victory in the final of the 2020-21 Champions League against Manchester City in Porto, with Kai Havertz's goal sealing a 1-0 win.

Alternatively, Tuchel has shown a flexibility across systems, using a range of back four and back three shapes throughout his managerial career across stints with Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Paris St-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Mainz.

  20. What formation will Tuchel play? Four at the backpublished at 14:06 Greenwich Mean Time

What formation can we expect England to play under Thomas Tuchel?

If recency is the best indicator, then something resembling a 4-2-3-1 could be expected, given it was the formation he used in almost all of his matches in charge of Bayern Munich in his most recent club role.

It is a formation that has become synonymous with English and German football in recent years, commonly used across the Premier League.

Gareth Southgate used a similar shape at the start of the 2024 European Championships but struggled to get the best out of Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham in the same side.

It led to a switch to a three-man defence which saw England reach the final, only to lose 2-1 to Spain in Berlin.

Harry Kane was Bayern's striker in Tuchel's last season in Munich, where Kane netted 44 goals in 45 matches in all competitions.
