Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana says "stupidity and cruelty can no longer hide" and that it is "time for things to change" after being racially abused on social media.

On Monday, Fofana, 24, shared to his Instagram story screenshots of six racist messages sent to him following Chelsea's 1-0 defeat by Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.

Arsenal felt Fofana was fortunate to remain on the pitch after committing several fouls at the Emirates Stadium.

"2025, stupidity and cruelty can no longer hide. It's not just football; it's not just a 'game' when some believe that their skin colour makes them superior to others," posted on Instagram later on Monday.

"It's time for things to change, for platforms to take action, and everyone to take responsibility."

Chelsea condemned the abuse earlier on Monday with a statement that read: "Chelsea Football Club is appalled and disgusted by the recent rise in online racial abuse towards our players," a statement from Chelsea read.

"The abuse Wes Fofana has been subjected to following yesterday's fixture is abhorrent and will not be tolerated.

"Wes and all our players have our full support. We will work with the relevant authorities in identifying the perpetrators and take the strongest possible action."

Chelsea will contact Instagram about the posts.

    Dougie FreedmanImage source, Getty Images

Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman will leave the club and is considering taking up a position in Saudi Arabia.

Freedman, 50, has been with Palace as a player, manager, and in his current role since 2017.

He was responsible for the recruitment of players including Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton and Dean Henderson.

Sources close to the situation claim Freedman has been offered the position of head of sport with the Diriyah Company, which owns Al-Diriyah, who play in the Saudi second division.

The role is believed to be a multi-discipline one in which he would shape the performance philosophy of up to seven other sports under the Diriyah Company umbrella.

There is no confirmation whether Freedman has formally accepted the position.

The former Scotland striker has been aware of the interest from Saudi Arabia for at least a month, but the move accelerated over the past week. He is expected to continue on a consultancy basis with Palace over the summer before leaving.

He twice had conversations with Manchester United and held talks with Newcastle last season.

  17. Man Utd fans 'disappointed' by season ticket price increasepublished at 07:34 Greenwich Mean Time

Manchester United season ticket prices will increase by about 5% for the third successive year as the club aims to become financially sustainable.

The Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) says the increase is "less than many feared", and there has been a price freeze for under-16s.

But MUST says United fans have "expressed their disappointment" that the club has "ignored" the call for a widespread price freeze.

Since becoming the club's co-owner last year, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos group have tried improve the club's finances but several changes have been unpopular, resulting in fan protests, in particular at last week's home game with Arsenal.

Some of the latest changes for the 2025-26 season include the introduction of a game categorisation model for non-season ticket holders, where premium games cost more.

United are also increasing the minimum usage requirement for season ticket holders from 15 to 16 of their 19 Premier League home games.

United's chief executive Omar Berrada says the club "worked hard to come up with a pricing package that is fair and reasonable" and that the new changes are being made "to offset continued rises in operating costs".

However, MUST says that "we fail to see any justification for the increase" and that the new categorisation model is "a source of major concern".

Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has been left out of Argentina's squad for their next two World Cup qualifiers.

The 37-year-old returned to Miami's starting line-up for their Major League Soccer win over Atlanta United but reportedly picked up an injury during Sunday's game.

Inter later confirmed the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has a "low-grade" injury to his adductor muscle.

Messi was rested for three Miami games before coming off the bench and scoring in last week's Concacaf Champions Cup win at Jamaican side Cavalier.

Argentina can secure qualification for next year's World Cup in this round of games as the holders visit Uruguay and host Brazil.

They lead South America's 10-team qualifying group by five points from Uruguay with six games remaining, with Brazil seven points adrift in fifth.

Preston striker Milutin Osmajic has been charged by the Football Association after being accused of racially abusing Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

The FA has been investigating the incident which is alleged to have happened during the 0-0 draw at Deepdale last month.

It has now charged Osmajic and the Montenegrin has until 25 March to respond.

A statement read: "It's alleged that the forward acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards an opposing player contrary to FA Rule E3.1."

It was further alleged it constituted an "aggravated breach" as it includes "a reference, whether express or implied, to colour and/or race".

The Championship match was delayed for several minutes in the second half when the Tunisian reacted furiously to something which appeared to be said to him by Osmajic and Hannibal then spoke at length to referee Andrew Kitchen.

Osmajic, 25, "strongly refuted" the allegations.

Michail Antonio does not know how he crashed his car into the tree. All he knows is that he did.

"The police came and when they found me I was in between the two seats. I wasn't actually in the driver's seat," he recalls.

"They said it looked like I was trying to climb out of the window, but because my leg was so badly broken the pain probably stopped me from being able to get out."

The first pictures of his crumpled Ferrari, which struck a tree in Epping Forest on a stormy Saturday in early December, were shared on social media and left people questioning whether Antonio was still alive.

The incident left West Ham's record Premier League goalscorer in hospital for more than three weeks with a broken leg - and facing a gruelling journey back to fitness.

Today, Antonio insists he will play again at the highest level, and feels he has been given "another chance at life" after he was "close to dying".

The 34-year-old sat down for an exclusive interview with BBC One's Morning Live presenter Helen Skelton to reflect on his "horrendous accident".
