  1. Recap: Reds rampant in Frankfurtpublished at 11:45 BST

A busy morning so far dissecting all of Wednesday evening's Champions League action.

The last stint has been all-out Liverpool so before we move on, here's a recap of all the best bits that we have covered:

  2. Frimpong suffers another hamstring injurypublished at 11:42 BST

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool

Alexander Isak wasn't the only player to pick up an issue on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool right-back Jeremie Frimpong went off in the first half with a hamstring injury and will be out for a "few weeks", according to Arne Slot.

The 24-year-old also suffered a hamstring injury in August that kept him out for two games.

Conor Bradley played well off the bench in the place of Frimpong at Eintracht Frankfurt and will likely take the slot.

A frustrating start to Frimpong's Liverpool career.

All this talk, Liverpool being back to their best and the week before about Manchester United looking to be a force again. The reality is: they both have lots of improving to do. A couple of wins should not change that. Also, Isak after all of them tantrums? I would've thought he'd be banging them in.

    Junaid, Dewsbury

Let's not get carried away with this Liverpool game - before last night, Frankfurt had conceded 18 goals across their last five games. They are not a good team. I just want to see a game where Ekitike starts off the left and Isak starts up front. Both can start together.

  4. Ekitike's time to shine?published at 11:36 BST

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool

Hugo Ekitike bagged his first Champions League goal for Liverpool with a cool finish to once again push forward his case for a regular starting spot.

The 23-year-old, who started alongside Alexander Isak, has also scored three times in the Premier League in five starts.

Isak's groin injury will likely open the door for a regular starting spot for Ekitike.

More goals could make Isak's push for starting spot on his return tricky, but the first half against Eintracht Frankfurt showed they can both play well together.

  6. 'Let's hope for the best' - Slot on Isak injurypublished at 11:28 BST

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool

Liverpool's win over Eintracht Frankfurt did come at a cost, with Alexander Isak not emerging for the second half after suffering a groin injury.

"He had to go off at half-time because he felt his groin a little bit," Reds boss Arne Slot told TNT Sports afterwards.

"That is a pity but it is such a difficult balance to find with a player who missed out three months.

"You bring them slowly and sometimes people argue saying 'you cannot play him more or longer' and now we've played him for the second time in three days and unfortunately he had to go off.

    "Let's hope for the best."

Hugo Ekitike @ 10:45 - Two goals were from corners, Ekitike was in his own half, Szoboszlai scored a screamer and Gakpo was well onside. I know you're trolling, but do a better job than that! Yours sincerely, your skipper, Virgil.

  11. Salah unhappy?published at 11:20 BST

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool

Goal.com reported that, external Mohamed Salah stormed down the tunnel following Liverpool's victory at Eintracht Frankfurt after being benched by Arne Slot.

However, there is a post on X, external showing Salah apologising to the Reds fans after he struggled to make an impact off the bench.

But that could have just been him showing his appreciation to the travelling supporters.

Given his profile there will always be eyes and stories on his every move.

Talking of profile, another report says Salah has deleted references to Liverpool, external on his X account.

Salah’s numbers dropped after he started Ramadan last season and he was criticised. This summer we all know what happened, his tribute hinted he didn’t want to come back in a way. I think we need to remember he’s still human and just calm it down.

  13. Could Slot bench Salah against Brentford?published at 11:13 BST

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool

    Mohamed SalahImage source, Getty Images

Mohamed Salah started 38/38 games in the Premier League last season under Arne Slot and started 9/9 games in the Champions League, missing only the final league phase game against PSV Eindhoven after Liverpool had already wrapped up qualification.

The 33-year-old was on the bench against Eintracht Frankfurt - the first time in his Reds career that he has been a replacement in back-to-back Champions League games.

Given he is struggling to hit his incredible form of last season and with the Reds delivering without him starting in Germany, could Slot bench him against Brentford on Saturday?

That would be the first time under Slot he is benched in back-to-back games.

We aren't coming to a point where Mohamed Salah is only going to be used as an impact substitute.

But Arne Slot had to make the call, because there were a lot of other people calling for him to make it, and Salah will have to prove himself again with Hugo Ekitike playing the way he is.

He needs to take heed of that against Brentford at the weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if Salah does start in that match - and hopefully last night's warning will get him back on a goal-scoring run.

People talk too much these days. Salah is class and will come back. Wirtz hasn't been as bad as you read and was excellent. Just feels like stories for the sake of stories. Give players a break!

    B, London

Salah hasn't lost his quality overnight, I do think he's getting older and has come off the back of an incredible season. It shows the depth of the Liverpool squad that Mo Salah is a selection headache. But Ekitike is undroppable right now and Wirtz is improving, change was necessary.

    Harry, Manchester

People seem very quick to write off Mo Salah. He may be in a lean spell and slightly past his best, but I still think he will end the season as Liverpool's top goal scorer again.

  16. 'We don't get dragged into the negativity'published at 10:58 BST

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, speaking to TNT Sports: "I don't know if it's a statement but it is a win and something to build on.

"I've been in the football business for a while, so not relief. Obviously we are disappointed with losing games, so it's something we have to deal with, stick together and keep working.

"Today we won and have to be ready for Brentford on Saturday. We don't get dragged into the negative things that are going around. The only way you can play your game is to focus on the task ahead.

"Keep going, don't get dragged into all that stuff."

How does Slot make them less vulnerable? The answer usually is Gravenberch. But who do you drop from last night? Jones had a blinder, with Szoboszlai and Wirtz connecting on a telepathic level. It's insane to drop Salah but you need the two strikers together and Gakpo is on fire.

Wirtz's performances are being negatively appraised because of the current obsessive statistical analysis of goals and assists. He is also very talented at keeping the ball moving around the pitch. A certain Jan Molby was talented at that too.

I love Federico Chiesa. He seems to be on the border of starting games for Liverpool at the minute but, when we talk about impact substitutes, he is the man that can come on and change a game.

He won't be overly happy that he's not starting games but he will get his opportunities to try to forge his way into what is possibly the most expensive front three in football with the cup games that are coming up.
