Rodgers confirmed earlier today that any players signed this evening "could be" involved in the derby on Sunday.

Scotland under-21 international Harrison Ashby has joined Queens Park Rangers on loan for the rest of the season from Newcastle.

He was involved in Eddie Howe's pre-season training camps, playing 45 minutes against Yokohama F. Marinos but will be playing his football for the Loftus Road club this season.

Ashby spent last season on-loan at Swansea City but reckons QPR is the right move for him now.

He told QPR club media: "There is only one place that I wanted to come and I am really excited for what’s ahead.

"The people I spoke to, and the chats that we had, straight away my head turned."

I know I alluded to this earlier, but I am being told Ross County's summer transfer window business has now concluded.

While there hasn't been anything today, it has been a busy window in Dingwall, with 12 players checking in to the Global Energy Stadium.

    A few have departed too.

The likes of Simon Murray and Yan Dhanda have moved on and will always be hard to replace, but boss Don Cowie will be hoping his new-look squad can gel quickly as they look to improve on a sluggish start to the season.

Allan Delferriere has joined Racing Union Letzebuerg on a season-long loan from Hibernian.

The central midfielder made nine first-team appearances since his debut in May 2022.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at MFK Vyskov in Czech Republic.

David Gray said the move "is best for his own development to be playing regular football.".

The head coach added: "This opportunity provides exactly that – and will be a good chance for Allan to play at another competitive level and keep improving."

  19. United 'working hard' on signing strikerpublished at 19:32 British Summer Time 30 August

Jim Goodwin is "confident" Dundee United will bring another striker before the clock strikes 11 tonight.

"We are hoping to have an announcement to make later on this evening," he said at his press conference earlier today.

"We have spoken about needing to strengthen the top end of the pitch, at the moment we have only got Jort van der Sande and Louis Moult as the two senior strikers in the group.

"I am confident that by the end of the window we will have another one to add.

"The guys are working really hard behind the scenes to try and make sure that is the case."
