  1. Poor from Connor Hallpublished at 15:15 GMT 2 November

Port Vale 0-1 Maldon & Tiptree

    Adam Yates
Former Vale defender on BBC Radio Stoke

That's poor from Connor Hall. His first touch he's put the goalkeeper under pressure. He's ended up sliding to Connor Hall who's under pressure but Hall's just got to put his foot through it.

  2. 'I've been really impressed with Eastleigh'published at 15:14 GMT 2 November

    HT: Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

    Danny Murphy
BBC Match of the Day pundit

It was a really poor goal for Eastleigh to concede but let's give them some credit. Their response to the goal was superb.

They pulled themselves together, they got more quality on the ball, got themselves some good chances. They'll be disappointed at half-time going in a goal down with that performance. I've been really impressed with them after losing that first goal

  3. Postpublished at 15:14 GMT 2 November

Port Vale 0-1 Maldon and Tiptree

The visiting fans are cheering every touch, every challenge and every mistake from the Port Vale players as you might imagine.

George Hall looks to put a cross in for the hosts but nudges the ball with his standing foot and takes a complete air-kick as Maldon and Tiptree get themselves a goal-kick.

You could hear the roar of the Maldon and Tiptree's owners when that goal went in and the visiting fans are delirious as well.

Owners Barrie and Scott Drewitt-Barlow promised their players a trip to Dubai next week if they pull off a shock result and they may well be thinking where their passports are right now.

GOAL: Port Vale 0-1 Maldon and Tiptreepublished at 15:06 GMT 2 November

    Anisius Lewis (6 mins)

    Can you believe it?!

99 places below their hosts in the football pyramid and eighth-tier Maldon and Tiptree lead.

It's a beautiful goal as well to boot.

Cameron James delivers a delicious cross from the right and, completely unmarked, Anisius Lewis turns home on the volley to give the visitors a shock lead - what a start!

The magic of the Cup, folks.

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:04 GMT 2 November

    Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

The referee blows for the end of the first half!

This game is still very much open after the first 45 minutes of the game, Walsall looked good after going ahead but Eastleigh have responded well to going behind, having a few chances of their own.

Do stick around for a big second half coming up next, can the Spitfires get back into it or will the Saddlers increase their advantage?

  7. Postpublished at 15:03 GMT 2 November

Port Vale 0-0 Maldon & Tiptree

The pitch has been heavily watered and you can see already in the opening stages the ball is stopping a little on the playing surface.

  8. INJURY TIMEpublished at 15:00 GMT 2 November

    Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

There will be three additional minutes played here before the break.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:00 GMT 2 November

Port Vale 0-0 Maldon & Tiptree

We are underway at Vale Park for the third of four FA Cup first-round proper ties happening today.

Bit of team news to tell you about - Devante Cole starts up front for Port Vale and is partnered by Mo Faal with Ruari Patton playing just in behind them.

As for Maldon, head coach Kevin Horlock starts former West Ham striker Freddie Sears, now 35, ahead of Macauley Bonne, who is on the bench.

Meanwhile, Tom Eastman partners skipper Jack Cawley at the heart of the defence, while 37-year-old forward Gary Hooper misses out through injury.

There are 99 places separating these two sides in the football pyramid - can an FA Cup shock happen in Staffordshire today?

  10. 'Stockley will be livid' - Yatespublished at 14:59 GMT 2 November

Port Vale v Maldon & Tiptree (15:00 BST)

    Adam Yates
Former Vale defender on BBC Radio Stoke

It looks at the moment to be a makeshift team but I think there's plenty of firepower in there. If you look at those who are not starting; Jayden Stockley must be absolutely livid not to be given the opportunity this afternoon. I think he would've been desperate to play. I'm pleased to see Rhys Walters back in, I'm pleased to see Funso Ojo back involved in the squad because I think he's been fantastic this year when he's played, and I'm not sure why he's not been involved. There are some players in that opposition side who have played higher league football. They've got an experienced squad if you look at some of the players in there and they'll know what they need to do this afternoon.

  12. 'I understand how the keeper's dropped that'published at 14:55 GMT 2 November

    Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Two

I can completely understand how the goalkeeper has dropped that, really hard visibility, but he does really well with the follow-up.

He just gets enough I think on the block and the second bite at it to stop that going into the back of the net.

    It's so hard to see.

  13. Cabby Cawley ready for match of a lifetimepublished at 14:55 GMT 2 November

Port Vale v Maldon & Tiptree (15:00 GMT)

    Jack CawleyImage source, BBC Sport

Speaking of Maldon & Tiptree, captain Jack Cawley said he has relished the task of juggling life as a black cab driver with their run to the FA Cup first round.

The Jammers squad includes several players you may well of heard of - Freddie Sears, Gary Hooper and Macaulay Bonne, as well as some exciting youngsters.

Cawley told BBC Essex: "It's crazy, a lot of the boys have been professional their whole lives so are used to coming in at the first or third round, so for them to come in at the preliminary round, it's a bit mad for them.

"To captain them is enjoyable. A lot of the boys have played at a lot higher level than I have so to take that experience on is brilliant."

  14. Postpublished at 14:54 GMT 2 November

    Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

Oh my word, that was nearly a howler by Eastleigh keeper Nick Townsend.

Walsall whip in a free-kick from the right and it looks like a fairly comfortable one for him to come and catch, but he drops it and knocks it to his right, into the path of a Walsall player.

The ball then trickles towards the goalline but a lunging Aaron Pierre is on hand to make an excellent clearance.

  15. Postpublished at 14:51 GMT 2 November

    Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

Away from the football, we've had some serious weather so far in this game.

We kicked off with a downpour of rain. Following that was bright sunshine, with the heavy rain continuing.

For now the rain has stopped and the ground is lit up in bright, warm sunshine!

With 36 minutes gone Walsall lead by a goal but Eastleigh have responded well to going behind, still chasing an equaliser.

  16. 'Game edging into Eastleigh's favour'published at 14:49 GMT 2 November

    Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Two

Mat Sadler has got a little bit to do because this game is really edging into Eastleigh's favour.

I know they're 1-0 down but they've been by far the more dominate team at the moment.

  17. Lowest-ranked side Maldon head to the Potteriespublished at 14:48 GMT 2 November

Maldon & Tiptree, of the Isthmian League North Division, travel to League One Port Vale this afternoon in a tie which underlines exactly what the FA Cup is all about.

The side from the eighth-tier of the football pyramid take on a side five divisions above them, feeling buoyant after winning four of their past five in all competitions, including last time out with a 1-0 victory against Downham Town.

Former Manchester City midfelder Kevin Horlock is now in charge of The Jammers who have reached the second round just once in their history, but that was only five years ago as their club goes from strength to strength, aided by the backing of owners Barrie and Scott Drewitt-Barlow.

Encouragingly for the visitors, the last time Port Vale faced non-league opposition in the FA Cup, they were beaten - 1-0 by King's Lynn Town - almost exactly five years ago today.

    Will lightning strike twice today?

  18. 'Eastleigh's half an hour'published at 14:47 GMT 2 November

    Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

    Mark Scott
    Commentator on BBC Two

Eastleigh trail but it's been their opening half an hour.

  19. Postpublished at 14:44 GMT 2 November

    Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

This has been a really good spell for Eastleigh over the last few minutes. They play another looping ball into the Walsall box which is punched away by Myles Roberts.

But the Saddlers remind the Spitfires of their threat on the break as they take the ball up the other end and create a chance from a cross that has to be scrambled away for a corner by an Eastleigh defender.

  20. 'Good gamble and anticipation from Saunders'published at 14:41 GMT 2 November

    Eastleigh 0-1 Walsall

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Two

It was a big chance for Harvey Saunders. It was a really good gamble and anticipation to actually get in for the opportunity, and I loved the fact that he's taken it early, but it's just the final execution of hitting the target.

Credit to Eastleigh for the mentality they've shown.
