Summary

  1. 'There is no comfortable in any situation in this club'published at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

Tottenham v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester United

Finally from United boss Ruben Amorim, speaking on whether it is dangerous to feel safe: "It is impossible. If you see the table it is impossible to feel any type of comfortable in this moment.

"We just want to win, to improve our performance because we are Manchester United. We are always talking about the same thing, we need to win the next game, we need to improve, we need to perform better.

"There is no comfortable in any situation in this club."

On players leaving and doing better at other clubs: "I don’t know. Sometimes it is like that, it can happen like that. This is a club with a lot of pressure. In this club you have to have a base of a team to put younger players, talented players from abroad in, to come to a team with a strong base to cope with that pressure - we don’t have it.

You feel it with [Patrick] Dorgu. He was little bit nervous in his first moment, but if you are playing better as a team, are a strong core and cope with this and winning games - like it was supposed to be in this club - it will be more easy for this kind of players to play this football."

  2. 'I have to understand all these problems' - Amorimpublished at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

Tottenham v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim on news of more potential redundancies at the club: "Our biggest problem now is Tottenham and we know the moment of the club.

"I have to understand all these problems but that problem of our club is not new. We already knew all the rules of [financial] fair play, we have a problem at the moment, but that cannot change the way I coach the team and prepare the team."

On how cost-cutting measures affect his transfer plans: "Here [it] is simple, to do something we need to sell players.

"My focus is to prepare [for] the game. The window is closed. We need to focus on the games we have, especially the next one and then in the summer we shall see."

On importance of summer window and having to sell to buy: "You know the rules better than me.

"Our focus now is to win these games and then we have time to focus on that. I'm really, really focussed on winning the next game."

  3. 'You feel that pressure when you don’t win'published at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

Tottenham v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester United

More from United boss Ruben Amorim on if he has sympathy for Ange Postecoglou: "Of course, especially because he is a good guy, a good coach, he wants to play football in the right way.

"When we choose this profession there is a lot of good things but then you feel that pressure when you don’t win."

On feeling that pressure himself: "I feel it in the performance. Sometimes when you are a bit the underdog and that is a bit we should not feel in any game because we are Manchester United, I feel the players more free.

"But then when you win the game, you have to be more dominant in every aspect and I feel we are not there. Sometimes the feeling is different when you play away."

  4. 'Postecoglou and I share problems but I'm at bigger club with bigger pressure' - Amorimpublished at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

Tottenham v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim on how important the game against Spurs is: "Every game now until the end of the season is a big game for us. We need to improve the way we play football but especially we need to win.

"No matter what, we need to win and to do that we need to improve the way we play football."

On similar situation to Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou and sticking to principles: "I am a huge fan of Ange Postecoglou. I am from a different culture, Portuguese and all the Portuguese coaches they can adapt. I adapt. I use one system because I believe if you do that system, you can use other systems at the same time. That is my idea.

"But, we are not winning games and I understand the connection with me and Ange, we have the same problems. In my opinion, with all due respect, I am at a bigger club, with bigger pressure. It is important for a coach to follow his principles."

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim on having a week to work with players and injury updates: "No, it was a good week until two days ago.

"We had some problems also. We don’t have players back. Maybe we have one or two issues, we are waiting.

"We have one player also who is sick so we will see who is fit. But it was good to work with team, to feel the players and try and improve performances.

    Any setbacks?: "Yes."

Any serious ones? Any names?: "We will see on the weekend."

  6. 'Man Utd will see progress if they stick with Amorim'published at 13:46 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

Tottenham v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on his United counterpart Ruben Amorim: "I have respect for all managers because I know how tough it is to do the job. Ruben is just doing what he wants to do. Manchester United have scouted him and identified him by looking at the way he does business. You bring him in with a purpose.

"If United stick with Ruben for two years then they will see progress. Absolutely, because it's how long it takes. If anyone believes anything can change in a short space of time, they are living in a alternative universe that is not based on reality.

"If someone shows me someone who has done it in a shorter period without investment, then show me."

  7. 'It's been tough without Vicario'published at 13:42 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

Tottenham v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Guglielmo Vicario who is set to return after fracturing ankle in November: "Vic, he is an outstanding goalkeeper. He is such a presence amongst the boys. He really gets everyone going.

"It has been tough without him because we’ve used three other goalkeepers. They’ve all contributed, none of them have let us down. Vic is experienced.

"Maddison, as well, has enormous self-belief and that filters through the team. He can start. It has been a shorter one, Destiny, we’ll see. I want to get to a space when we have a midweeker when Destiny, Wilson and Timo [Werner] at a stretch can all play minutes."

Every Premier League game is a chance to add points so we will try on Saturday against Southampton.

"The results over the last two months have been very good. It's mostly because the players are performing very well and giving the level we thought they had."

  10. Van de Ven return imminent but Spurs 'waiting' on Romeropublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

Tottenham v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on his defensive options: "With Micky [van de Ven], we made a decision and the catalyst with that is about looking beyond the injury about how we can get him into a good space. He is working with people on the mechanics of him. He is in a good space, training and feels really good. His return is imminent but we want to get it right.

"With [Cristian] Romero, it has been a healing issue. The injury hasn’t healed as quickly as we would have liked. We could have pushed him but we are just waiting. Depending on what happens, his return could be imminent as well.

"I’m not a doctor. There’s a barrier you can’t cross when talking injuries or medical. Both are training, in different places of their recovery."

Tottenham v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Tottenham against Manchester United has at times been one of the most entertaining Premier League games on the calendar.

Theoretically, it should be quite important.

The joke about this one is that it is a relegation six-pointer. United are 13th and Tottenham 14th.

While it would take quite a lot for either to actually become embroiled in a scramble to avoid the drop, they are as near to that in points terms, as they are the challenge for a Champions League place.

Whoever loses could have just Wolves and the bottom three below them.

Ruben Amorim will be speaking shortly.

Arne Slot is currently overseeing Liverpool training in Kirkby ahead of Sunday's Premier League meeting with Wolves and one player conspicuous by his absence, at least at the start of the session, is Cody Gakpo.

The Liverpool boss had confirmed earlier today that the 25-year-old forward picked up a knock during the draw at Everton and was a doubt for the weekend.

"Cody is a bit of a doubt as well. I had to take him off because of an injury - a knock. Let's see how he is today," Slot had said.

Gakpo has eight goals in 24 appearances this season for the league leaders.

Joe Gomez and Tyler Morton are also out injured for the Reds while Curtis Jones is suspended after seeing a red card in the Merseyside derby.

  17. 'Emotions got the better of me' - Slotpublished at 13:00 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

Liverpool v Wolves (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

During his Friday morning press conference, Liverpool boss Arne Slot was asked about the incident that saw him sent off following the Merseyside derby on Wednesday.

Slot appeared to exchange words with one of the assistant referees at full-time before shaking hands with referee Michael Oliver. He looked surprised to be shown a red card.

On Friday he said his "emotions got the better" of him and that he "would love to do it differently," if that moment happened again.

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on what it is that City are struggling with: "It’s not one subject, if it was then it would be easy to solve it.

"We have always been so comfortable with the ball and we are now not so. You then have to rely on a physical presence and our physicality is not like other teams.

"Every time that we get a result the mood is better in everyone, but this season has been like it has been and we have to try to get results more often."
