Mark Hughes got the better of fellow Welshman Robbie Savage as Carlisle United scored two late goals to beat 10-man Forest Green Rovers in the National League.

Harvey McAdam and Georgie Kelly scored in the last five minutes for the hosts after Laurent Mendy saw red.

Hughes' Carlisle took an 18th-minute lead through Regan Linney but Savage's visitors were level within eight minutes after Jayden Clarke steered home the equaliser.

Regan doubled his tally on the stroke of half-time but Rovers were back on terms eight minutes after the restart through Harvey Bunker.

Savage's men were reduced to 10 players by midfielder Mendy's dismissal for a foul on Linney – his second bookable offence – with 27 minutes remaining.

And substitute McAdam made his side's numerical advantage count when he smashed home after 85 minutes before Kelly converted a stoppage-time penalty.
