    Man City 2-1 Aston Villa

Sarah Mayling gets a golden chance to level in the final embers of this match.

A long free-kick, which will probably be the final chance of this match, goes through everyone and falls to Mayling, who scuffs her effort completely. Big opportunity for the substitute.

    Liverpool 0-0 Crystal Palace

Nice approach play from the hosts, the dangerous Olivia Smith out on the right chops inside and plays a nice cross that Mia Enderby receives with her back to goal but she can't quite twist away and get a shot off.

What a blinder Lauren Hemp is having. Fantastic.

    Man City 2-1 Aston Villa

It has taken north of 70 minutes for Aston Villa to register their second shot of the match, but Ebony Salmon does fire an audacious volley at goal, having flicked the ball up herself on the edge of the penalty area.

Not a shot that Ayaka Yamashita had to worry about though.

  5. Postpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time

    Liverpool 0-0 Crystal Palace

Mille Gejl does well on the Palace left to win a corner from Lucy Parry. They work it nicely, short to Annabel Blanchard and her cross is over the head of Rachael Laws and dangerous - Gemma Bonner takes charge and clears well.

  6. INJURY TIMEpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time

    Man City 2-1 Aston Villa

Five minutes have been added on at the Joie Stadium.

Villa captain Rachel Daly has just spent most of the first minute being seen to over concerns of a head injury, but thankfully, she is okay.

That may add a little bit longer onto this first half stoppage time.

You wouldn't know the Super League - the other Super League - season had just ended. What a magnificent surface we've got at St Helens. An absolute carpet.

    Siobhan Chamberlain
Ex-England and Man Utd goalkeeper on BBC Two

Some days it's quite hard to work out which player has been the best, today it's an easy one.

Lauren Hemp - she's been brilliant for City.

On the ball, off the ball, her work-rate, assist, goal.

She has been phenomenal for City today and deserved of the player of the match award.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time

    Man City 2-1 Aston Villa

A final change for Aston Villa.

    Sarah Mayling replaces Noelle Maritz.

  10. Postpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time

    Man City 2-1 Aston Villa

It has taken them long enough, but Villa are now, with only a couple of minutes to go, are trying to be more direct, although it is yet to come to anything of note.

Unsurprisingly, Lauren Hemp, who has spent the last few minutes dancing around Villa players on the ball with the ease, has just been named as the Player of the Match on BBC Two.

    A very fair call.

Gordon 13.34… Wow, you should be a pundit

    Jilted John

Well done for City Women for making me eat my words (comment at 13.34) but my point is, with all respect to Villa, Chelsea would be 2-0 or 3-0 up at the hour mark in a game like this, points in the bag, City don't have that ruthless approach.

  16. 'Mixed start for Palace'published at 13:57 British Summer Time

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (14:00 BST)

    Sanny Rudravajhala
BBC Radio 5 Live at St Helens Stadium

With Olivia Smith in the Liverpool side, the Crystal Palace backline will have to be on their toes. The Canadian has pace, can beat a player on either side and has a habit, so far, of starting very quickly.

Life in the WSL has been mixed so far for Palace. They took three points at Leicester in the last away game and pushed Brighton all the way in a 1-0 defeat. Those two performances made up for a very difficult start, especially that 7-0 home crushing to Chelsea.

The rain has stopped, the clouds have lifted and the sun is shining. Other than a very annoying breeze whipping around stands, we’re all good to go!

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time

    Man City 2-1 Aston Villa

A first change of the game for City boss Gareth Taylor.

Jess Park makes way for Aoba Fujino, who scored her first goal for City against St Polten in Wednesday's Champions League win, another game where City were forced to come from behind.

  18. 'Dali is a player I'm excited to see on the pitch'published at 13:55 British Summer Time

    Man City 2-1 Aston Villa

    Siobhan Chamberlain
Ex-England and Man Utd goalkeeper on BBC Two

Kenza Dali is a player I love watching. She's such a technical, gifted player, she picks up those pockets really well.

I'm surprised she hasn't been in the starting lineup for Villa whether it's a knock or a decision by the manager that it doesn't fit their style right now, other players that are better.

She's a player I'm excited to see on the pitch.

As per Opta, Aston Villa have gone over an hour now in this match since last registering a shot.

That shot, their only one of the game so far, was Gabi Nunes' opening goal in the 20th minute.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time

On come Kenza Dali and Miri Taylor.
