This is my worst nightmare with no Saliba no Gabriel in the backline

This will be a big, big job for the two players in front of the Arsenal defence now. If you are a Liverpool fan you would like to see a bit more from them, go and test that defence.

Gabriel has walked off straight down the tunnel to the treatment room.

    How serious is his injury?

Another injury blow for Arsenal. Gabriel has to come off after going down for the second time with what looks like a knee injury. When he came off the first time the physio rubbed some type of balm into his left knee.

Now is the time for Szoboszlai & Gakpo.

Tactically, Slot is being out-thought. We are seeing the limits of his competence: what works in the Eredivisie doesn't always translate to the greatest league on Earth. Arteta is utilising both the press and the overload created by inverted full-backs to great effect. Arsenal also seem to want it more: Arteta is clearly a greater motivator than Slot.

That is the first time that Luis Diaz has been able to get around Thomas Partey. It is lovely close control and dribbling, and he gets to the byline and almost squeezes it in. The ball hit the post and came back out into the arms of Raya.

A nice spell of Liverpool pressure.

What's this? Gabriel has gone down again.

This is really bad news for Arsenal who are already without William Saliba.

Wow. Great feet by Luis Diaz inside the Arsenal box before the Liverpool players falls into David Raya who, for one moment, looks hurt, before indicating he is ok.

Good news for Arsenal. Gabriel is back up and able to carry on.

    Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

If they could Arsenal would probably not want to risk Gabriel and would take him off. But the way things are just now with their defence and the issues there, he will not be coming off unless he absolutely has to.

I'm not sure if there was anyone near to Gabriel when he went down. He's still getting treatment. It looks a painful one.

  13. 'Liverpool may need to change it'published at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time

    Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

If there is another ten minutes from Liverpool now like the last ten of the first half, I think they will need to change it. They were getting dominated in midfield, Declan Rice has been a colossus and Mikel Merino has been excellent alongside him.

Arsenal continue to look so, so dangerous going forward.

Leandro Trossard is at the heart of their latest attack which comes to nothing and now Gabriel has gone down and requires treatment.

I think Arne has got tactics slightly wrong here and doesn’t look to have changed. He usually makes tactical changes at 1/2 time which has caught us out today. Jones was great breaking into the box as an 8 last week. Today he’s almost static as a 10. Gakpo for Jones and Gomez for Robertson please Arne.

I know Liverpool are up there but we haven't quite looked on it for a fair few games that we've ended up winning and this could end up a demoralising defeat. This season will be building and you'll see a real challenge next year.
