Match Facts
Following their 2-1 win at Molineux in December, Ipswich are looking to complete their first league double over Wolves since 1991-92, and first in the top-flight since 1983-84.
This is Wolves’ first away league game against Ipswich since a 1-0 win in January 2018, and first in the top-flight since a 3-1 loss in December 1983.
Ipswich Town have lost 10 home Premier League matches this season, their most in a league season since 2010-11 in the Championship (also 10). They’ve only ever lost more home games in one season, losing 13 at Portman Road in 1994-95 when they came bottom of the Premier League.
Wolves have won their last two away Premier League games, as many as in their previous 19 combined (W2 D5 L12). They last won more in a row between December 2021 and February 2022 (4).
Ipswich have lost each of their last five home Premier League matches – only once in their league history have suffered six consecutive home defeats, doing so between September and November 1963.
Ipswich have shipped four or more goals in four home Premier League matches this season, more than they had in their first five seasons and 101 home games combined in the competition between 1992-93 and 2001-02 (3).
Wolverhampton Wanderers have won six of their last eight Premier League games against newly promoted sides (D1 L1), having won one of their previous nine beforehand (D6 L2). Their one defeat was against Ipswich in December, while Birmingham in 2009-10 are the only promoted side to do the double over Wolves in the Premier League.
Ipswich’s Jack Clarke has assisted a goal in each of his last two Premier League appearances at Portman Road, though he is yet to end on the winning side in any of his 12 home games in the competition (D4 L8), the joint-most of any player in Premier League history, along with Onel Hernández (D3 L9 in 2019-20 for Norwich).
Matheus Cunha has had a hand in nine goals away from home in the Premier League this season (8 goals, 1 assist) – only Cunha himself (9 goals, 1 assist in 2023-24) and Raúl Jiménez (9 goals, 3 assists in 2019-20) have had a hand in more in a season in the competition for Wolves. Cunha’s 18 away Premier League are also the club’s joint-most overall, along with Jiménez.
In his last five Premier League starts against newly promoted sides, Wolves’ Matheus Cunha has either scored (3 goals) or assisted (3 goals) in each game, including scoring their goal in the 2-1 defeat to Ipswich earlier this campaign.
