Everyone's talking about transfers for the big clubs and the big players, yet I think it could be the smaller clubs with the shrewd bargain signings that could be the best buys, like Adrien Truffert to Bournemouth. All these transfers and rumours will make for an interesting Fantasy Football next season. The prices for players will be interesting for the big point hitters.

BBC Sport's Nizaar Kinsella reported last week that Manchester City have agreed a deal with Rosenborg to sign midfielder Sverre Nypan.

Talks over personal terms were still ongoing for the 18-year-old, but it is understood the fee would be £12.5m, with no add-ons or other clauses, and he would sign a contract until 2030.

It is expected the Norway Under-21 international would go out on loan intially.

Making his senior debut at the age of 15, Nypan has featured 70 times for Rosenborg, scoring 14 goals.

He was also heavily linked with Arsenal and Aston Villa.

When Liverpool go big on signings, you know they have faith in the player and they usually get it right. Van Dijk, Alisson and you could even argue Salah, who had a bad record in the Premier League and was available at a decent transfer fee at the time. There have been times where they have got it wrong, such as Darwin Nunez, but Wirtz will slot in (excuse the pun) effectively. He's got one of his Leverkusen friends in the team and he is a key piece of the blueprint. Cannot wait for next season.

  5. Can Truffert prove a worthy replacement for Kerkez?published at 12:17 British Summer Time 16 June

Adrien Truffert's arrival at Bournemouth will also have implications on Liverpool's transfer business this summer.

The Cherries will hope the French defender's arrival will compensate for the potential departure of Milos Kerkez during the transfer window.

Kerkez was one of the key players for Andoni Iraola during the 2024-25 campaign as the Cherries finished ninth in the Premier League.

But he has attracted interest from Premier League champions Liverpool who are reportedly close to completing the signing of the 21-year-old Hungary full-back.

And Truffert will be a natural replacement for Kerkez and brings with him plenty of experience, having made about 200 appearances for Rennes during the past five seasons.

But he will have big shoes to fill at Bournemouth with Kerkez ranked second for most distance covered of all Premier League full-backs last season, behind only Fulham captain Antonee Robinson.

Kerkez also made the third-most open play crosses in the Premier League and registered eight goal involvements during the 2024-25 campaign (two goals and six assists).

Bournemouth's new signing Adrien Truffert has told the club website that "it’s a dream for any player to play in the Premier League."

"It’s one of the best and most competitive leagues in the world," the French full-back said.

"I’m looking forward to testing myself at this level, facing top players every week, and helping the team achieve great things."

Truffert added: "It’s a great opportunity for me to keep progressing and to be part of an ambitious project. I felt the club’s confidence in me from the first discussions, and I’m excited to get started."

Tiago Pinto, president of football operations at the club, said Truffert is a player that the Cherries have admired for some time.

"He brings significant experience to the squad despite still being just 23 years of age," Pinto said

  7. Truffert signs five-year dealpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 16 June

    Bournemouth

Adrien Truffert arrives at Bournemouth on a contract until 2030.

Bournemouth will reportedly pay Ligue 1 side Rennes an initial transfer fee of £11.4m plus £3m in bonuses.

The agreement also includes a 10% sell-on clause for Rennes.

The club said that Truffert will link up with Andoni Iraola’s squad when the side return for pre-season training ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Bournemouth have just confirmed the signing of left-back Adrien Truffert from Rennes.

The French defender, 23, came through the ranks at Rennes and made his first-team debut in 2020 and served as the Ligue 1 club's captain during the 2024-25 season.

He made 33 league appearances for the club last term, missing just one game through suspension, and registering two goals and assists each.

Truffert won his first and only senior international cap for France in 2022 and represented the nation at the 2024 Olympics where they won the silver medal.

Florian Wirtz will be playing in a team surrounded by players who want to play for Liverpool, who all have winning experience with a strong mental attitude. He will slot in adding goals and assists. Long-term replacement for Mo Salah. Liverpool will win the Premier League again next season.

    Philip, Dublin

I would rather compare Wirtz's transfer to that of Bobby Firmino. Firmino was a massive success and looking at Wirtz's abundant quality there's no reason, injuries aside, to suggest he can't thrive at LFC as well.

  12. Will Chelsea get their man?published at 11:44 British Summer Time 16 June

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens is known to be a major target after Chelsea's £42m bid was rejected on the first transfer deadline day.

The Blues will go away and regroup but are likely to bid again as they need a right-footed left winger in the squad. In terms of outgoings, take your pick.

Chelsea will be busy selling this summer and have to offload Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, Djordje Petrovic, Renato Veiga, Christopher Nkunku and many more.

They may also look to add a goalkeeper, if the right opportunity presents itself, after showing interest in AC Milan's Mike Maignan, and a central defensive signing could be made should players such as Trevoh Chalobah be sold.

  13. Grealish and Walker expected to leave Citypublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 16 June

    Shamoon Hafez
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Jack Grealish is expected to leave Manchester City after being left out of their Club World Cup squad and is thought to be available for a reported £50m.

But his £300,000-a-week wages could be off-putting to any suitors while sources have said City are yet to receive any formal bids for the England international.

Kyle Walker is free to exit Manchester City as there appears to be no way back for the Englishman into the first team.

The 35-year-old right-back spent last season on loan at AC Milan but the Serie A side decided not to turn it into a permanent deal.

Walker has one year left on his deal at Etihad Stadium and the club may sanction another loan deal away this season.

A few years back, Chelsea paid a lot of money for a young German midfielder/forward who was extremely highly rated. Kai Havertz didn't have the instant impact many expected, and it wouldn't surprise me if Florian Wirtz also takes time to settle.

    Age: 26

    Position: Defensive midfielder

    Current club: Real Sociedad

    National team: Spain

Stats: Zubimendi has largely played as a deep-lying midfielder since making his Sociedad debut in 2019.

Although his goal involvements are low, the forward-thinking midfielder has made the most passes for Real Sociedad in their last league campaign and has completed 84% of those.

Update: At the end of May, it was reported by BBC Sport that Zubimendi was set to have a medical before completing a switch to Arsenal.

Zubimendi has a reported £51m release clause, with all payment structures between Sociedad and Arsenal already agreed.

Arsenal and Real Sociedad had agreed a deal to bring midfielder Martin Zubimendi to the Premier League.

BBC Sport reported last month that all the relevant documents in relation to the Spain international's switch to the Emirates have been signed and that the deal was entering its closing stages.

Zubimendi had a reported £51m release clause, with all payment structures between Sociedad and Arsenal already agreed.

And Spanish media outlet AS reported last week that the 26-year-old's move to the Gunners will be completed after 1 July to help with meeting Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

The report also says that Mikel Arteta's side have agreed a fee of around £59m, which is higher than the release clause, to sign Zubimendi.

Zubimendi has largely played as a deep-lying midfielder since making his Sociedad debut in 2019, although he is capable of playing in a more advanced role.

During six years at Sociedad, he has amassed 180 appearances in La Liga, scored six goals and delivered six assists.

Arsenal fan here. If we sign Sesko and it doesn’t work out in his first season, I do not want to hear any excuses from Arteta about his age. If Arteta doesn’t deliver a major trophy this season, his time is up.

The dithering from Arsenal and Arteta over a new striker is not a good sign for the upcoming season. They should have identified their number one target (they have had 2+ years to decide!) and gone aggressively to get them. Like how Liverpool and Man City are done with their transfers.
