Rangers weren't playing well, a little bit safe at times.

But they have had the bit of luck that they haven't had at times this season.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin tells BBC Scotland: "Really disappointed. Motherwell did more than we did to deserve it, so that's really disappointing for everyone.

"The performance is not there. Everybody has to look in the mirror now to change the run we're on. It's the small things that make a difference in the end. What we're showing isn't acceptable or good enough for Aberdeen.

"It's not working the way we want. We have to do better, because if we keep doing it like this, it won't be good for us.

"The fans' frustrations are the same ones we feel ourselves. We're losing games in the wrong way right now. The fans deserve more and we have to show them that."

Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou tells BBC Scotland: "Very delighted. Happy with the defensive performance and some of the attacking play.

"I don't think we played to our full capacity in terms of quality on the ball. We should have scored one or two more goals, but it was exactly the defensive performance we have been looking for.

"It was more of less flawless, which is what you need in big games away. We were well structured and kept it to a minimum of chances against, which is huge credit.

"We deserved it. You could feel how much it meant after the game and we are looking forward to the semi-final."

Of course, there's also been another League Cup quarter-final today and here are the thoughts of the two managers.

Livingston manager David Martindale has been left raging at the spot kick that handed Dundee a 3-2 victory in the Premiership earlier.

"This can't keep happening - it can't," he tells BBC Scotland. "It's me that's affected this week, it'll be somebody else next week. Rangers, Kilmarnock, Celtic benefit, Hearts benefit, it can't keep happening.

"We're paying millions of pounds for people to make decisions using footage. They seem to still be getting it wrong.

"It's really hard sitting here as a manager, that's the frustrating aspect. In all honesty, we should be coming away from here with a point, in my opinion.

"When you're using the footage, how are we getting decisions wrong when we're actually looking at these camera angles?"

It's a great delivery and the wee man comes across the front post, getting a solid connection.

Exactly what Rangers wanted.

A promising Rangers spell of play ends with Mohamed Diomonde fouling Dylan Levitt.

Rangers are pinging the ball about, but it is too slow and Hibs are just shuffling across and denying the hosts access to their penalty box.

However, they do have a corner conceded by the head of Grant Hanley.

Comes to nothing though and Hibs are on the charge and have a corner of their own.
