Rangers have made a positive start despite it all.

Rangers head coach Russell Martin came to the dugout very early, almost unnoticed with the blaring PA potentially drowning out any negativity.

When he came to the touchline for kick-off, you could hear loud boos despite that PA.

How this all turns in his favour is unclear. Victory today is essential.

Rangers have gone 282 minutes without scoring. They will have to end that run if they are to reach the semi-finals.

Here come the two sides into a hostile Ibrox atmosphere.

I think Hibs will come here with a view to aggressively start.

It used to be that teams would come to Ibrox and try to stifle for the first 10 minutes, but I think they will go for it from the start.

To ease pressure on Russell Martin, his Rangers side must beat Hibs for the first time in four meetings since a 1-0 victory at Ibrox almost exactly a year ago.

David Gray's side won 2-0 on their last visit in April and head to Glasgow unbeaten in three games, albeit the latest two have been draws, and sitting seven places above their hosts in the top flight.

You can't expect anything else than fan frustration.

It's very difficult to find a positive message at the end of this game with where Aberdeen sit.

This was a great opportunity to give the fans hope going into this crucial week against United and Motherwell again.

Last week was one of the most hostile Ibrox atmospheres I've witnessed unfold as the defeat by Hearts played out.

This crowd today will be roughly two-thirds capacity, but it's clear from fans outside, and many within, that they're not intent on putting their feelings to the side for this absolutely crucial fixture in Russell Martin's tenure.

Rangers have the weight of the footballing world on their shoulders. Hibernian the opposite. They come with confidence and the ability to descend the negativity among this home crowd to new depths.

Aberdeen were hugely disappointing.

They had two great opportunities, but two defenders were on the end of them - Mats Knoester and Nicky Devlin.

Jimmy Thelin will point out they hit the crossbar, but it's not enough.

Motherwell were the better team. They created the better chances, scored a wonderful goal and were easy on the eye.

They go into the semi-finals and they deserve to be there.

The pressure has got to come on Aberdeen now. You're bottom of the league, can't score goals and you're out of the cup.
