Fulham v Arsenal (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on team news: "It's match day minus two, so we have to modify a few players, we have another training session tomorrow so we will see how everybody is for Sunday.

On Gabriel: "Tomorrow is the next session, its too difficult to say something.

On Calafiori: "The same, it's difficult to say."

  2. 'I am well'published at 13:28 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2024

West Ham v Wolves (Mon, 20:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui has faced the press before his team take on Wolves on Monday. He was first asked how he was: "I am well."

And on the last few days: "We try to take advantage to work and to develop our first aim. It is to be ready, to compete in the next challenge we have on Monday,"

  3. 'To get the best from Madueke you have to push him'published at 13:26 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2024

Tottenham v Chelsea (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on his public criticism of winger Noni Madueke:

"Overall he's working well since we start. Sometimes he drops a little bit. He's not allowed to drop. In terms of numbers, he's doing fantastic with goals and assists.

"Off the ball when we ask him to defend and press he's doing very well. The only reason I said this the other day is because I want the best from Noni and to get the best you have to push him. If he relaxes a little bit, it's wrong.

"I try to be, not a friend, but close to the players. Sometimes between friends, when you say something wrong to your friend he's not happy. He has to know that what you say is because you want to take care of him.

"The same happened with Reece [James] when I spoke about leadership, it's because I wanted the best for Reece and for him to improve. For Noni, this is not different."

  4. 'Nothing to add' on title talkpublished at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2024

Tottenham v Chelsea (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on whether his side are in the title race:

"There's nothing to add, I said I don't think we are there and ready to compete with Arsenal, Liverpool and City. We have to do many more things good, not just score goals. Avoid conceding goals.

"Defensively we are doing well but we are just focused on Sunday and then the next one. We are not thinking about April, May or June. It's too early. Things can change quick in football. The focus is Sunday, today's session and tomorrow's session."

Davies shouldn’t be anywhere near the team, not convinced about Dragusin at all, Gray and Bergvall need to be loaned. No mental strength in midfield… I could go on all day. Lose against Chelsea he has to get sacked. 10th before new year is unforgivable.

Tottenham v Chelsea (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on team news: "Both [Reece James and Wesley Fofana] are slowly getting better but as we said the other day it's a matter of weeks. They are still far.

"The only one still ill is Misha [Mykhailo] Mudryk. The rest are okay."

As a neutral, I much prefer watching Spurs under Ange because it normally leads to exciting games, but I can understand frustration where the form is utterly inconsistent. One thing I don't understand is the continued reference to a lack of spending or investment: Spurs have the fourth-highest net spend, on transfers, (~£460 million) in the Premier League in the last five seasons.

Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor says attackers Lauren James and Sam Kerr will not return to action before the end of the year.

James, 23, who has missed Chelsea's last eight games and four England fixtures with a calf issue, is unlikely to return before 2025 as was initially hoped.

"LJ is progressing really well with her rehab. I think it will be difficult to see her before the end of the year," Bompastor said ahead of Chelsea's WSL meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Kerr, 31, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in January and it was hoped she would play again before 2025.

"We are looking to have her back with us in February, March, not before that," Bompastor said of the Australian striker.

Ange is out of his depth. He is too one dimensional and in the leagues he has managed before he has had success because they are Championship level at best. These leagues aren’t elite they are second rate. He is a second rate manager.

We need to talk about Postecoglou because he’s inflexible, trenchant and naive. But we really need to talk about Levy. We have a nice shiny stadium and a paper thin squad, bang average in many places, demonstrably weaker than Pochettino's from 2015-2018. In short: lots of ‘balance sheet’ progress; on the field: regression.

Manchester United v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 17:30GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Tomorrow's game against Nottingham Forest feels like quite a big one for new Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.

So far, United have beaten the teams they should beat under the Portuguese coach, drew his first match at Ipswich and lost at Arsenal, which is what everyone thought would happen.

United are favourites to beat Nottingham Forest - but Nuno Espirito Santo's team have impressed this season and already won at Liverpool, so it will not be easy.

Having slipped back to 13th in the Premier League, United need to win in order to push their way back up the table and it contention for the European slots.

    Fulham v Arsenal (14:00 GMT)

    Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva on team news: "They're arriving now to the training ground for the session. We have to keep assessing them, it's a short period to the Arsenal game. Assessing them and recovering them.

"Right now, Reiss Nelson was going to be out anyway because he's on loan from Arsenal. The first feedback I got from the medical staff is that it's going to be a hamstring injury. He's going to be out for this game for sure and probably the next game. Let's see how many more."

  12. What has West Ham's form been like?published at 12:55 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2024

West Ham v Wolves (Mon, 20:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui is under enormous pressure after a period of poor form for the Hammers.

They currently sit in 14th in the Premier League after registering just four wins from 14 games this season.

In their last five outings in the top-flight they have won four points, from their 0-0 draw against Everton and 2-0 win over Newcastle.

The other games have all been losses. They were defeated 3-0 by Nottingham Forest, 5-2 by Arsenal and 3-1 by Leicester.

The board have decided to keep him in charge for the Wolves game but the fixture feels like a must-win.

Monday's fixture between West Ham and Wolves has been dubbed 'El Sackico' as whichever manager loses the game could be sacked.

Both West Ham and Wolves are in a poor run of form and so to lose to the other would be a blow to either club.

If the two sides draw, who knows? There might be two sackings in the morning.

Be careful what you wish for @ 11.55 Paul, Sussex re 'a tough leader a la Roy Keane' at Spurs. We had him at Ipswich. No thanks. It’s Kieran McKenna every time…

    Gavin, London

Ange has had a succession of jobs where it's been all but impossible to fail, and now he has a job where it's all but impossible to succeed. I think he will get sacked sooner rather than later, though the main problems at Spurs will still be there for the next manager.

Man Utd v Nott'm Forest (Sat, 17:30 GMT)

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will be asked about a whole host of topics at today's media conference but one of the headlines will be Luke Shaw.

The defender has suffered yet another injury setback and has said he is "devastated" by the new blow.

Amorim's thoughts on that and more to come from 13.15 GMT.

Everyone just need to take a breath. We were laughing at the Gooners losing their heads when Emery and Arteta were struggling (look how they both worked out!) and this overreaction is equally embarrassing. Tough stretch and it might get worse before it gets better, but it’s time we realised giving a manager some time gives us the best chance to achieve something!

Chris, Spurs (scandalously overpriced) season ticket holder

For all the Spurs fans calling for investment in the squad on ‘top’ players, did you not see what happened to Arsenal when they moved in to the Emirates? Afraid you’ll be waiting a while ‘til you’ll have enough funds to bring in the players you really want. Stadium debt isn’t something that can be ignored.

  17. Injury strain starting to show for Liverpoolpublished at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2024

Everton v Liverpool (Sat, 12:30 GMT)

    Mandeep Sanghera
    BBC Sport

Liverpool had a poor first half at Newcastle on Wednesday so are the strains of the season starting to show?

Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah started in defence at Newcastle as the injuries have begun to pile up for the Reds, with centre-back Ibrahima Konate, right-back Conor Bradley and left-back Kostas Tsimikas out for a few weeks.

Keeper Alisson Becker, forward Diogo Jota and winger Federico Chiesa have been out for a while and we'll find out where they're at on the road to their return.

Slot gives very little away when asked about the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who are out of contract at the end of the season, and expect the same if he's asked on the issue again.

Yes the problems start from the top, but Ange is out of his depth. Our form is horrendous. We're getting worse, not progressing. 18 losses in last 42 games is shocking. A whole year of horrible form. We've only won half our games this season. Do I want to keep sacking managers? No. But you can't just keep a manager for the sake of it.

    Daniel, Newmarket

The issue with Ange is that the problems (set pieces and defending the break) aren't being addressed. Managers get time if fans can see progress

The big games keep coming for Premier League leaders Liverpool and their manager Arne Slot.

Following wins against Real Madrid and Manchester City before a thrilling draw at Newcastle United, the Reds now face a short trip to face local rivals Everton on Saturday.

It will be Slot's first derby but is set to be the last one in the league at Goodison Park before Everton's planned move to their new stadium for next season.

The blue side of Merseyside will want to make it a game to remember by damaging Liverpool's title challenge, while the Reds will want to get back to winning ways to keep the chasing pack at arm's length.

Slot will be speaking to the media at 13:15 GMT today and it'll be interesting to hear what he's got to say about where his side are at.

  20. What can we expect to hear from Friday's news conferences?published at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2024

    • West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui is due to speak at 13:00. He's been under pressure but West Ham have said they're standing by him - for now
    • All four managers in the Premier League's top four are holding news conferences - Enzo Maresca (13:00), Arne Slot (13:15) Pep Guardiola (13:30) and Mikel Arteta (13:30)
