I like the Morocco midfielder. He's exciting to watch and also has a bit of an attitude, like he's got a point to prove.

New Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy must like that as he was handed only his fourth start of the season against West Ham and mopped up the bonus points with a goal and assist.

Leicester have a so-so fixture list until the end of January, but it does include home games against Brighton, Wolves, Palace and Fulham.

If you are looking for a rotatable, budget eighth forward player, then El Khannouss is a potential option.

Ange in, Levy out. It’s a deeper issue at Spurs when you beat the champions 4-0 then get one point from Fulham, Ipswich and Bournemouth. Get the man some depth in January to help him out but I fear a bad result against Chelsea could make Levy’s trigger finger itch.

Re: 10.10 Klopp didn't get top 4 in his first season but he joined in November after Rodgers was removed. He did in fact achieve a top 4 spot in his 2nd (first full season). The season after he then reached the CL final, the season after he won the CL and the season after he won the PL. People really need to stop using Klopp as a reference for 'normal' success.

  7. West Ham standing by Lopeteguipublished at 10:36 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December

West Ham v Wolves (Mon, 20:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

West Ham are standing by manager Julen Lopetegui - for now.

The move has inevitably triggered a lot of debate, with many feeling the club's problems go back to the decision not to renew a new contract for David Moyes.

I think Moyes' time at the London Stadium was over. West Ham fans were increasingly of the belief a more expansive approach was required. Moyes felt it needed more pragmatic tactics to keep the club pushing towards the European places.

Whether Lopetegui was the right choice as replacement is another matter.

Obviously he can salvage the situation but I tend to think managers given a game or two to prove they should stay are on a very slippery slope.

West Ham may play well against Wolves and lose for any variety of reasons. They could be just above the relegation zone by Monday night.

Lopetegui will do well to salvage the situation from here.

Ange is a good and progressive manager and we're lucky to have him. It's obviously a bad spell but injuries and the thin squad have really hampered us and will make December even more difficult in 4 competitions. No one berates Pep, Klopp or Mourinho for sticking to their guns. The idea that Spurs should be winning titles in recent times with our budget is ridiculous. The squad currently is not better than Chelsea's, Man United's or Villa's. We all asked for attacking football and a Spurs identity and here it is. Look at the big picture.

    Ben, Cambridge

If we lose to man utd on 19th and don’t auto qualify for Europa then Ange will be gone. Good teams can defend, we can’t with Ange’s style of play, even when our best players are available.

  9. Inter Miami in CWC curtain-raiserpublished at 10:30 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December

A complex and lengthy draw ceremony was held across two separate Miami locations and lasted more than 90 minutes, during which a new Club World Cup trophy was revealed.

There was also a video message from incoming US president Donald Trump, whose daughter Ivanka drew the first team.

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami will take on Egyptian side Al Ahly at the Hard Rock Stadium in the opening match, staged in Miami.

Teams from each of the six international football confederations will be represented at next summer's tournament, including 12 European clubs - the highest quota of any confederation.

The European places were decided by clubs' Champions League performances over the past four seasons, with recent winners Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid guaranteed places.

One place was reserved for a club from the host nation, which Fifa controversially awarded to Inter Miami, who will contest the tournament curtain-raiser. Messi's side were winners of the regular-season MLS Supporters' Shield but beaten in the MLS play-offs, meaning they are not this season's champions.

My issue with Ange is the steadfast refusal to be pragmatic when it matters. Last night we're still trying to play out from the back with 5 players in attack. Bournemouth could just press and continually win the ball back high up the pitch. It's similar with defending set pieces.

    Fulham 3-1 Brighton

Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler following the 3-1 defeat to Fulham: "The performance was good but the result is disappointing. We created enough chances for two or three games! It was mistakes to concede the goals but in the end we created enough to win this game.

"It is about keeping our heads up as Sunday is the next chance to get the result we deserve. We have to learn from these mistakes.

"I think we all know that's not the result we deserved.

"We created a lot of chances and gave away a goal with an error in the build-up and an own goal.

"But it's football. That's exactly what I demand from Bart, to find solutions on the ground. We will give him feedback and the players will improve.

"But mistakes happen. If there were no mistakes there would be no goals."

Fulham boss Marco Silva on the 3-1 win over Brighton: "It was a big three points for us in a tough game. We started in the best way possible with the early goal but Brighton made it really difficult for us in the first half. They started with three at the back and it made it difficult for us to connect with the wide players.

"Second half we were much better. We conceded in a moment we should prepare better for the long ball. It was a good shot from the edge of the box. Difficult game but a big three points for us.

"We played with Alex Iwobi in a different position. He's an offensive player and did an amazing job."

Tottenham fans are the most fickle. When the club hires serial winners like Conte and Mourinho they complain about the style of football, now we have Ange who plays attractive football which will take time to implement they still complain. Klopp finished outside the top 4 in his first 2 seasons. Ange needs time and backing.

  16. Has Brighton's form dipped?published at 10:07 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December

    Fulham 3-1 Brighton

Brighton are having a good season, they sit in fifth and are just three points outside of the top four.

Results earlier this season have seen the seagulls narrowly lose to Liverpool, who lead the table, beat the likes of Newcastle and draw against Arsenal.

Their December fixtures have been and are against mid-table sides but they are yet to land a blow. So is their form turning? They drew against bottom Southampton and have lost against Fulham.

The rest of their December games are against Leicester, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Brentford and Aston Villa, all of whom sit below them in the table. Fabian Hurzeler will need a few results from those games to maintain their position.

    Fulham 3-1 Brighton

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on 5 Live Breakfast

They [Brighton fans] need to appreciate the moment they were in when they were second, but the Premier League is a punishing league, ever-changing. I think they need to remain on track to keep as a top 10 club, that's the wants of the owner.

It's about doing the right things, day in, day out and trying to three points because every game in the Premier League is so so difficult.

Totally wrong to boo big Ange. Absolute lack of class from likely the same fans singing his praises when we were flying under him early on. He's trying to instill a mentality as much as an ethos, and as with any ambitious endeavour, it will take time, patience and a lot of rough days before we can enjoy the smooth. We were a mess before he came and he was really clear on what he wanted to achieve and how and hasn't wavered. The injury list and fatigue from game congestion hasn't helped, but if we stick with him and back the team instead of being fickle and reactionary, the rewards will come.

    Tim, Spurs fan

Booing and criticism from the fans is fine, but personal abuse isn't. Ange is clearly trying his best, but I do think the modern trend of managers sticking to the same tactics no matter what doesn't help the fan/manager relationship

  20. Schar has 'that creative eye'published at 09:52 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December

Brentford v Newcastle (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on Fabian Schar: "Fabian has got those midfield qualities at centre-back, he has that creative eye. That is so important in our build-up phase.

"He used the ball well against Liverpool. His goal is rounding everything up, how he scored from that angle, great goal. He has that technical ability to adapt, and he’s scored some good goals for us."
