Having done the double over Everton in their first Premier League season, Brentford failed to win either of their meetings with the Toffees last term (D1 L1).
Everton are winless in their last four away games against Brentford in all competitions (D2 L2) since a 4-2 win in the second tier in September 1952.
Since the start of last season, Brentford have drawn more home Premier League games than any other side (10), including all three this season. The only side to draw their opening four home games in a Premier League season was Derby County in 2000-01.
Everton have picked up just one point in their opening five Premier League games this season (D1 L4), their joint-worst start to a campaign, along with 1994-95, when they had one point under Mike Walker.
Brentford only went ahead in 11 of their first 25 home Premier League matches – since then, they’ve held a lead in 15 of their 16 games on home soil, including each of their last 10. They have, however, drawn their three at the Brentford Community Stadium this season despite leading in all three.
Everton have won none of their last 13 away Premier League visits to London (D5 L8) since a 1-0 win at West Ham United in May 2021. Manager Sean Dyche’s last London win was also in May 2021, 2-0 vs Fulham with Burnley, with Dyche winless in seven since then (D5 L2).
Two of the three teams to attempt the most long passes in the Premier League this season have been Everton (287, 2nd) and Brentford (285, 3rd). Since the start of the 2021-22 campaign, Brentford lead the way for long passes (4,932) while Everton have attempted the most since Sean Dyche’s first game in charge in February (1,369).
When starting a Premier League season with a club, this is the fourth time in his last five campaigns that Everton manager Sean Dyche has picked up just one point in his opening five matches, also doing so in 2018-19, 2020-21 and 2021-22 with Burnley (D1 L4 each season). Dyche hasn’t won a Premier League match in August or September since 2019 (Burnley 2-0 Norwich), drawing four and losing 10 since then.
Brentford defender Ethan Pinnock has won more duels (34), more aerial duels (22), made more interceptions (8), blocked the most shots (4) and completed the most passes (212) of any Bees player this season in the Premier League.
Since Sean Dyche’s first Premier League game in charge of Everton in February, the Toffees defender James Tarkowski has blocked 13 more shots on target than any other player (41), including three against Arsenal last time out. Tarkowski also ranked top for blocks between his first and last appearances under Dyche at Burnley from August 2016 to April 2022 (243).
