What a night of Championship action that was.

Incredible comebacks, late drama, surprise wins and a huge victory in the relegation six-pointer for Luton Town at Cardiff City.

Sheffield United thought they were going three points clear at the top, only for Bristol City to equalise in the last minute and keep their play-off quest on track.

Burnley also missed the chance to climb into the top two and Sunderland couldn't close the gap.

Elsewhere at the bottom, Derby County gave their survival hopes a massive boost by beating the in-form Coventry City.

We go again tomorrow night for another five fixtures in this always bonkers division where Leeds will have the chance to return to the summit.

    Until then, good night!

This division... there's just nothing quite like it.

Bristol City's last-gasp equaliser at Sheffield United prevented the Blades going three points clear at the top, though they do return to the summit for 24 hours at least courtesy of a point from a 1-1 draw as Leeds host Millwall tomorrow.

Burnley missed the chance to go top themselves as they drew by the same score at home to West Brom

Sunderland spurned the opportunity to close the gap on the top three as they had to salvage a point at home to Preston... you can guess what that scoreline was too.

West Brom are back into fifth after Coventry's shock defeat at Derby while the Robins, Middlesbrough, 2-1 winners over QPR, and whisper it, Sheffield Wednesday, who came from 2-0 down to win 2-2 at Norwich, are all in the play-off hunt with nine games to go.

  3. Rams and Hatters close the gappublished at 22:05 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

Luton's priceless come-from-behind win at Cardiff has given the foot of the Championship table a very different complexion than it had after 55 minutes this evening when the Bluebirds were ahead.

The Hatters are now within two points of City and Stoke, who have a better goal difference and who host Blackburn tomorrow night.

Derby are sandwiched between Luton and Cardiff after their fine 2-0 win over red-hot Coventry, a second straight win for John Eustace and the Rams.

Plymouth head to Portsmouth tomorrow night with a tough act to follow.

  4. 'A precious point for Baggies'published at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    FT: Burnley 1-1 West Brom

    Tony Brown
West Brom's all-time record scorer on BBC Radio WM

A performance of heart and grit, and togetherness.

They should be proud of themselves; Tony Mowbray will be really proud.

It’s a precious point for Baggies.

  5. 'They lacked the final bit of quality'published at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    FT: Burnley 1-1 West Brom

    David Unsworth
Former Burnley and Everton defender on BBC Radio Lancashire

The final pass for Burnley just hasn't been there tonight, they lacked that last bit of quality to win the game.

The effort was there and the defending was good enough, they just didn't ask enough question.

It's a brilliant point for West Brom.

  6. 'They were stronger than Coventry'published at 22:01 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    FT: Derby 2-0 Coventry

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

I said at the start, the team who adapted to the conditions the best, would come out on top.

They were stronger than Coventry and won all the tackles.

The goals we conceded were not good enough - for all the possession, we didn't do enough to score.

    Sheff Utd 1-1 Bristol City

It's all over! What an electric ending we've just had.

Sheffield United have a couple more late claims for a penalty after a real scramble in the box, but the ref again says nothing doing.

Mark Skyes' 90th-minute equaliser for Bristol City earns them a deserved point after Tyrese Campbell had slotted the Blades ahead from a one-on-one.

Chris Wilder's side go top but miss the opportunity to go three points clear of Leeds United, who will return to the summit if they win at home to Millwall tomorrow night.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Sheff Utd 1-1 Bristol City

Bristol City win a late free-kick and float it to the far post. It's cleared by Kieffer Moore and Gustavo Hamer looks to break away on the counter but Robins defender Cameron Pring brings him down. Yellow card.

  10. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:52 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Sheff Utd 1-1 Bristol City

And now both sets of players have gone piling into a big coming together.

  11. Postpublished at 21:50 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Sheff Utd 1-1 Bristol City

Leeds United will be the big winners tonight if it stays this way. Sheffield United are still going top as things stand but it will feel like a hammer blow.

Bristol City have been good value for at least a point to be fair.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Sheff Utd 1-1 Bristol City

Bristol City's George Tanner takes out Ben Brereton Diaz on the left and goes into the book.

  13. goal

GOAL: Sheff Utd 1-1 Bristol Citypublished at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Mark Sykes (90 mins)

Unbelievable! Bristol City have kept on plugging away and finally get their reward!

Yet more brilliant build-up play and George Earthy flicks it through for Mark Sykes who turns and hammers a powerful drive in at the far post from the right side of the box.

Great goal and the Robins are level.

  14. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Burnley 1-1 West Brom

    Jaidon AnthonyImage source, PA Media

All over. Burnley miss the chance to go top of the league, or even into the automatic promotion places.

It's not going quietly, however... CJ Egan-Riley and his manager Scott Parker and a member of his backroom team have both been shown red cards after ugly scenes as the whistle went with Albion's Will Lankshear shown a yellow for his part in the melee with Egan-Riley.

West Brom played really well and took the lead through John Swift's sublime free-kick into the top-corner - the first goal the Clarets had conceded at home since 21 December.

Zian Flemming turned in after Joe Wildsmith spilled a shot soon after, but despite Jaidon Anthony hitting the bar for the hosts, and Mikey Johnston doing likewise at the other end for Albion, it ends all-square.

Burnley stay third, the Baggies bounce up to fifth.

  15. Postpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Burnley 1-1 West Brom

    We have drama...

Burnley launch in a long throw and the ball bounces through the legs of Ousmane Diakiete and strikes his hand before rolling to Joe Wildsmith.

Gavin Ward waves away the appeals.

  16. Postpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Sunderland 1-1 Preston

Points shared at the Stadium of Light.

Romaine Mundle's late goal snatches a point for Sunderland after Emil Riis gave Preston the lead but what will that have done for the Black Cats' automatic promotion hopes?

Paul Heckingbottom's side have stopped a run of a five game winless league streak but will feel like they could have held on for all three points here.

  19. Postpublished at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Bristol City

Bristol City are pushing for an equaliser but the Blades defence is standing strong. Anis Mehmeti has two efforts blocked and then Joe Williams sees a shot deflected behind.

Five minutes plus added time to go.

  20. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Middlesbrough 2-1 QPR

Middlesbrough pick up the three points at the Riverside thanks to goals from Tommy Conway and Anfernee Dijksteel.

While it's four defeats in a row for QPR.
