Ethan Walker's stoppage-time equaliser rescued a point for Ayr

Ayr United suffered another blow to their Scottish Championship title hopes as they were held to a draw at home by relegation-threatened Hamilton Academical.

But Scott Brown's hosts would have suffered a third straight defeat had not forward Ethan Walker fired the equaliser from close range five minutes into stoppage time.

Striker Oli Shaw's close-range header had edged Accies ahead midway through the second half.

The point takes Ayr above Livingston into second place on goal difference, but they have played a game more and fall 11 points behind Falkirk after the leaders' 2-0 win over Airdrieonians.

Accies, who have gone four games without a win, are now clear of second-bottom Dunfermline Athletic, but the side who appointed Neil Lennon as manager on Friday have a game in hand.
