Scott Arfield converted a late penalty to secure a vital three points
Falkirk extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Championship to 11 points after a closely fought victory over bottom side Airdrieonians.
Experienced duo Calvin Miller and Scott Arfield both scored in the second half, with the former's coming in the 97th minute from the penalty spot.
All the early pressure came courtesy of the Bairns, they could have at least been 2-0 up in the first 5 minutes with headers from Liam Henderson and Tom Lang. Goalkeeper Cade Melrose was the hero to keep the score level.
Sean Mackie's free-kick from 25 yards out clipped the bar after 10 minutes.
After the half-hour mark, Airdrie finally created a chance through a Mason Hancock run dancing his way through the Falkirk defence before bursting into the box and launching a wicked left foot drive for Hogarth to divert away.
The opening goal came on the hour mark after a ball split the Diamonds defence as Melrose denied the oncoming forward but the ball spilled into the path of Calvin Miller, he made no mistake from close range.
The substitute Ricco Diack bared down on goal with an angled drive just wide of the left-hand post for Airdrie and Chris Mochrie's effort was not strong enough to beat Hogarth.
Hesitation from keeper Cade Melrose late on, he was in two minds to collect a pass but he brought down Dylan Tait, referee Euan Anderson pointed to the spot before Scott Arfield converted with ease.
What they said
Falkirk manager John McGlynn: "We had opportunities earlier in the game where we should have gone ahead, but we always knew it was going to be a game that would to and fro.
"On a day where we weren't at our best, we're delighted to win.
"We've found a way to win, Nicky Hogarth has done well. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a man of the match award today, he's shown again what a good goalkeeper he is."
Airdrie manager Rhys McCabe: "We deserved to win the game if I'm honest, take nothing away Falkirk are a good side.
"I guarantee no body has caused Falkirk as much trouble as we did there.
"Minus that first 20 minutes I thought we were excellent."
