Scunthorpe came from behind to beat Aldershot 2-1 and give John Coleman a clear picture of the challenge awaiting him at the National League strugglers.

The 20th-placed Shots, who will work under former Accrington boss Coleman from next week following his appointment on Friday, forged ahead in the 12th minute when Hady Ghandour's shot from range was deflected in.

The Iron hit back six minutes later as Callum Roberts headed into an open net after Marcus Dewhurst parried the ball into his path. Zain Westbrooke then gave Scunthorpe the lead shortly after the half-hour mark when poking home amid a goalmouth scramble.

Aldershot pushed hard for a leveller with Will Armitage coming closest but they are now winless in six, having lost five of those matches, while Scunthorpe climbed into second place.
