Altrincham earned a goalless draw at fellow National League strugglers Braintree in their first game since sacking manager Phil Parkinson.
The Robins parted company with Parkinson on Thursday following a seven-game winless run in the division, with Neil Gibson taking interim charge.
Braintree, on a run of five league matches without a win themselves, went close to taking the lead in the ninth minute when Chay Cooper's 25-yard strike rattled the crossbar.
Both sides had chances to break the deadlock, with Altrincham's Kahrel Reddin seeing his shot hit the top of the bar before Charlie Kirk had a late effort cleared off the line.
