It is 126 days since Manchester United last played a competitive fixture - a fixture they will want to forget.

They were at Old Trafford for the final game of last season but were thrashed 6-0 by Chelsea as the visitors won the title.

Marc Skinner's side will want to kick off the campaign in a more positive fashion today.

Back in 2021, they beat West Ham at Old Trafford in their first game at the men's stadium. The hosts also won 4-0 here in 2023.

Will they make it three in a row?

WSL highlights: Chelsea edge Villa in season opener

The season officially got under way last night when champions Chelsea claimed a narrow 1-0 win against Aston Villa.

A stunning first-half strike from Johanna Rytting Kaneryd was enough for three points as the Swede cut inside and struck the ball perfectly into the far corner.

But Chelsea were hanging on by a thread in stoppage time as goalkeeper Hannah Hampton first clawed away Rachel Daly's header, before tipping an effort from her opposite number Sabrina D'Angelo over the crossbar.

It was a dramatic end to the WSL's opening match which marked manager Sonia Bompastor's arrival and a new era at Chelsea.
