Chris Agutter picked up a point in his first game as Sutton head coach with a goalless draw against Braintree.
Chay Cooper sent a free kick wide of the upright in the early stages and Mason Terry made a great save to deny Lewis Simper with the away side impressing under Agutter, who left Worthing to take the job this week.
Braintree went close twice after the break when Aidan Francis-Clarke nodded onto the roof of the goal and John Akinde was denied by a solid save from David Aziaya.
Both sides went close in the final stages when Braintree's Lewis Walker had a shot saved, before Aaron Jones' volley flew over the crossbar and Tom Blackwell curled an effort around the post in stoppage time.
