    Aston Villa 2-0 Celtic

    Nick Mashiter
BBC Sport football news reporter at Villa Park

Another defensive headache for Unai Emery as Matty Cash comes off to be replaced by John McGinn.

Villa are already down to one fit centre-back in Ezri Konsa and it appears Lamare Bogarde has gone to right-back while Boubacar Kamara drops from midfield into the centre of defence alongside Konsa.

  2. Rodrygo gives Real the leadpublished at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Brest 0-1 Real Madrid

Brest held firm for over half an hour but it's hard to keep a team with this level of talent at bay. Rodyrgo picked the ball up outside the box, danced past a couple of Brest players and finished beautifully into the far bottom corner. Stunning stuff. Rodrygo's ninth goal in his last 10 games.

Real are level on points with Atalanta in eighth as things stand.

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Aston Villa 2-0 Celtic

Villa are going to score more goals here. Ollie Watkins should score.

Morgan Rogers plays it to Leon Bailey, who unselfishly passes to Watkins. You'd expect the England man to find the back of the net as he beats Kasper Schmeichel but Alistair Johnston clears off the line.

    Man City 0-0 Club Brugge

"Come on City!" is the cry from the home supporters.

    Tense times.

  5. Leverkusen into top eight; Dortmund ninthpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Sparta Prague

Bayer Leverkusen take the lead and move up into the top eight.

Seconds after having a penalty call in their favour overturned by VAR, Xabi Alonso's side attack again and Florian Wirtz slots in a cut-back.

Leverkusen go up to sixth. Borussia Dortmund drop down to ninth as things stand.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Stuttgart 0-2 PSG

PSG go incredibly close to adding a third as Desire Doue's first-time strike at the back post is stopped on the line by Fabian Bredlow, who is then fouled as Doue tries to force the ball over the line.

  7. 'Brugge have looked good breaking out of their structure'published at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Man City 0-0 Club Brugge

    Izzy Christiansen
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Club Brugge have looked really good at times when breaking out of their defensive structure. Ardon Jashari is looking really good on the ball, he is covering a lot of ground and is making some really good decisions.

Don't know why Gundogan is in the team offers nothing going forward or defensively and is too slow in possession.

Manchester City are finding this very difficult.

They can't find a way through this Club Brugge low block at all.

RE: Max. I've been saying as much the entire season. This new CL format is generating frankly ludicrous sums of money from false entertainment. There is no jeopardy in play. It's all a nonsense - until we get to Last 16. Then it's back on track - funnily enough when the old format is restored...

    Sporting 0-1 Bologna

Sporting are hanging on to a play-off place at the moment but if Manchester City score then they will drop into the elimination zone.

    Tense.

    Barcelona 0-0 Atalanta

This could be a game that sees a bit of Lamine Yamal magic decide it.

He's been Barcelona's shining light so far, not far off with a superb shot and now he has the Atalanta defence twisting and turning before he curls an effort at the goalkeeper.

  16. goal

GOAL - Girona 1-0 Arsenalpublished at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Arnaut Danjuma

    Well now.

Neto, Arsenal's oldest debutant in 110 years, inexplicably races out of his box when he has no chance of getting the ball and Arnaut Danjuma, who has run through, just curls the ball past him into the empty net.

  17. goal

GOAL - PSV Eindhoven 0-1 Liverpoolpublished at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Cody Gakpo (28 mins, pen)

In his home town, against his former club, Cody Gakpo puts Liverpool ahead from the spot!

Calmly slotted into the bottom corner, sending the keeper the wrong way.

Liverpool already through but this would maintain their perfect record in the Champions League so far with eight wins from eight.

Federico Chiesa in a bit of bother from that challenge.

He's receiving some treatment before Liverpool can take this penalty.

    Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 Sparta Prague

In Germany Bayer Leverkusen would move into the top eight with a win tonight.

But Xabi Alonso's side are finding it tricky to break already-eliminated Sparta Prague down so far.
