    Man City 0-0 Club Brugge

    Izzy Christiansen
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Club Brugge dropping off is just denying Man City the space to play in. They've not yet found the right key to unlock Brugge's defence.

  2. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Aston Villa 2-0 Celtic

Inches away from a Villa third. Sloppy defending by Celtic gives Jacob Ramsey a chance to shoot from eight yards out. His effort hits the post and then hits Kasper Schmeichel but bounces into the Dane's arms rather than into the net.

  3. Pep's in chargepublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Man City 0-0 Club Brugge

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at the Etihad Stadium

Pep Guardiola called Matheus Nunes to the touchline as the game was going on to tell the Portuguese international to switch play across the field when he got the chance.

He then ordered his central defenders to hold their defensive line as the visitors began a counter attack.

His pointing is starting to increase and when he went to throw the ball back to Nunes, he hit Brugge coach Nicky Hayen in the back - accidentally.

Pep looks as though he wants to take command of this situation.

  4. PENALTY - Liverpoolpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    PSV Eindhoven 0-0 Liverpool

Well this has been a pretty dull match so far but Liverpool have won a penalty.

Joey Veerman brings down Federico Chiesa just inside the area and the referee immediately points to the spot.

  5. 'What a chance'published at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Aston Villa 2-0 Celtic

    Chris Sutton
Former Celtic and Villa striker on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Unai Emery is furious with that back pass from Digne.

It ended up being a really tame effort for Martinez. What a chance for Celtic to get back in this.

  6. Postpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Aston Villa 2-0 Celtic

Big chance for Celtic to get back into this after Lucas Digne's error but Reo Hatate's effort from the edge of the box is weak and easily saved.

  7. Postpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Man City 0-0 Club Brugge

Kevin de Bruyne gets on a run down the left and decides to take the shot on but he blasts it over the bar.

Don't forget, as things stand Manchester City are going out. A draw is not good enough.

On this showing Celtic would struggle in the Championship let alone the Champions League.

  9. Postpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Man City 0-0 Club Brugge

Bernardo Silva drags his left-footed shot wide.

Ah, hang on it took a deflection. Manchester City have a corner.

Oh wait, City line up to take the corner and the referee decides actually, the ball came off Erling Haaland, not a Club Brugge player and it's a goal kick instead.

I fear people are going to realise tonight that this new format simply gives big teams more of a margin for error. 17th to 24th should drop straight into the Europa League, but instead they'll have another go at UCL knockout football, which I would imagine they will not mess up a second time.

  11. Postpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Barcelona 0-0 Atalanta

A slow burner is how I'd describe this one.

Barcelona feel to be playing at a fairly pedestrian pace and Atalanta are plugging away but not too many chances.

  12. Postpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Aston Villa 2-0 Celtic

Youri Tielemans' left-wing free-kick is cleared out to Matty Cash, whose volley from over 20 yards out hits a Celtic man.

  13. Dortmund move into the top eightpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Dortmund 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

    UCL table

Dortmund have moved into the automatic positions.

Bayern Munich are sitting in ninth with only a 5% chance of reaching the top eight, according to Opta, external.

  14. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Aston Villa 2-0 Celtic

    Nick Mashiter
BBC Sport football news reporter at Villa Park

Celtic are yet to lay a glove on Aston Villa so far, even though they have seen more of the ball in the last 10 minutes.

After the two early goals the atmosphere has become a bit subdued but that may emphasise how much control Villa have now.

  15. Bologna blow for Sportingpublished at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Sporting 0-1 Bologna

Bologna are eliminated, Sporting likely need a result but it is the former who take the lead!

Tommaso Pobego directs home a header to give the Italians the lead.

Seen Villa throw these leads away before. Maybe it's that Ozzy tifo earlier, but I'm a little... Paranoid.

  17. Dinamo Zagreb into play-off spotpublished at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 AC Milan

Wow, huge moment for Martin Baturina! He's just put Dinamo Zagreb in the lead against AC Milan to lift his side up to 23rd and into the final play-off spot. Scenes!

  18. Benfica lead Juvepublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Juventus 0-1 Benfica

Benfica have boosted their qualification hopes by punishing some very sloppy defending to hit Juventus on the counter.

Greece striker Vangelis Pavlidis finished after being put clean through.

Remember, Juventus are through even if they lose tonight.

  19. 'Nunes getting a lot of the ball'published at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Man City 0-0 Club Brugge

    Izzy Christiansen
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Matheus Nunes is getting a lot of the ball. He is getting time on the ball to pick his passes. The problem is that because he is not being pressed he is finding it difficult to get that killer pass.

  20. PSG double their leadpublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

    Stuttgart 0-2 PSG

Incredible! Stuttgart go from almost equalising to 2-0 down.

It starts with a fantastic save by Gianluigi Donnarumma, who somehow gets one hand to Chris Fuhrich powerful close-range strike and then PSG break with Bradley Barcola squaring for Ousmane Dembele to score.

It was originally ruled out for offside but after a long VAR check it was given.
