  2. Robinson takes responsibility for defeatpublished at 17:45 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

FT: St Mirren 0-1 St Johnstone

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: "First half, we totally dominated the game. St Johnstone got into our half once. But we didn't have enough creativity.

"We should draw that game and the games we should be drawing, we're losing. That's why we are where we are at the moment, in limbo. We've not cemented anything in the top six and we're still looking over our shoulder. The reason for that is huge inconsistency from one week to the next.

"It's hard, after you win 3-0 with such a convincing performance at Aberdeen, to make changes. But that's what's needed in certain games so, that's totally my fault."

  3. Docherty apologises to Dundee supportpublished at 17:43 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

FT: Dundee 0-6 Heart of Midlothian

Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells BBC Scotland: "I think to describe that for me is anomaly. I don't know where that came from. We had such strong performances heading into the game.

"When you concede goals as cheaply as we did today, it drains confidence. Hearts caught us on a bad day and they had a good day. These things happen.

"For all the credit we got for recent performances, we now deserve a lot of criticism and I deserve a lot of criticism because I lead the group. I apologise to the Dundee fans. The players will be in tomorrow morning to address that.

"I did not see that type of performance coming. You could see the confidence draining as the game went on. I was a bit surprised."

  4. 'Football is simple' says Valakaripublished at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

FT: St Mirren 0-1 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Simo Valakari tells BBC Scotland it was his plan to contain St Mirren in the hope of striking after the break and thinks the win gives his side renewed hope of escaping bottom spot.

"Everyone knows our situation," he says. "Football is simple. We need to win these matches and, even more, we need to concentrate on our performance, try to play our way.

"We need to try to compete, be hard to beat. All these things, we did today. That gives us the possibility to win.

"If you come here and try to play a basketball game with this team, you're not going to win. We did very well with the ball first-half.

"We didn't create, but we took the momentum out. We knew it would open up second-half. Stay solid, defend and we will get the chance."

  5. Critchley 'not surprised' at Shankland performancepublished at 17:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

FT: Dundee 0-6 Heart of Midlothian

Hearts head coach Neil Critchley tells BBC Scotland: "It is not often you win away from home in the fashion we have done today. Some of the goals we scored were fantastic goals. We were clinical on the break and we kept the clean sheet, which is always a good sign."

Critchley says Lawrence Shankland, who scored the opener, had been threatening to break his recent poor run in training.

"Maybe he just needed that little break to freshen himself up physically and mentally," he says. "He has looked sharper in his mind in training. It is no surprise he scored like that today."

Of two-goal Elton Kabangu, Critchley adds: "He is a terrific guy. Brilliant person to have around every day. He is so positive. Brilliant with his team-mates, a humble guy and a constant threat. He wants to score goals."

  6. Fifers stumble at toppublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Scottish League 2

East Fife's lead at the top of the fourth tier is down to four points after their single-goal defeat in Elgin.

It could have been worse if bottom side Forfar had not come from two behind to draw in Peterhead, whose own lead over third-top Elgin is down to four points.

Edinburgh consolidate fourth spot after edging a seveng-goal thriller at home to fifth-top Stirling, who are now seven points behind.

Forfar move to within seven points of Clyde, who lost away to Bonnyrigg, but with two games in hand.

  7. Tight at top as Stenny leadpublished at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Scottish League 1

What a big change at the top of the third tier.

Arbroath started the day top, with Queen of the South second, but the former's 2-1 defeat away to Cove Rangers, combined with Queens' loss in Inverness, means we have a new top two.

Stenhousemuir are at the summit after their win away to Montrose, while Cove leap up to second.

Alloa's comeback win away to fifth-top Kelty means there are five points between the top six sides.

Just a reminder that there is another Premiership game to come.

With Aberdeen having squandered a chance to move into third place by losing to Hibs, Dundee United can consolidate their position behind the Old Firm as they visit Kilmarnock.

Pressure is even more on the hosts, who are now only four ahead of St Johnstone at the bottom after the Perth side's win in Paisley.

There is another live for that one.

Hibs are up to fifth and just two points behind faltering visitors Aberdeen after a battling, competitive win at Easter Road.

The Dons' wretched run continues with their 10th loss during their 14-game rut, with a lack of attacking creativity and balance across the pitch evident again.

Nector Triantis and Nicky Cadden scored headers, on either side of halftime, as Hibs continue their own revival.
