Better from Watford. Much better. They finally have some possession in the Cardiff half and again Yasser Larouci finds space on the left. This time the cross is decent, but is dealt with. The Hornets seem to be coming into this.

Oxford have produced a couple of moments but they haven't quite clicked yet.

There are a few of them asking questions of each other, they know it's not quite working at the moment.

    Plymouth 0-0 Oxford United

An inswinging corner from Argyle's Tymo Puchacz is well defended at the near-post from Oxford who manage to get themselves out of another sticky situation.

The hosts are undoubtedly on top in this one so far.

    Oh dear.

Watford finally venture forward but what seems a promising move ends abruptly, with Yasser Larouci woefully mis-hitting a left-wing cross that drifts out of play.

Oxford skipper Cameron Brannagan is back on after a lengthy bit of treatment.

The midfielder looked like he hurt his left leg as he went in for a challenge with Darko Gyabi just outside the box.

It was completely accidental - Gyabi's great turn flummoxed the former Liverpool man.

Watford keeper Jonathan Bond is called into action again, this time to deal with an effort from Calum Chambers. At the other end, Cardiff keeper Jak Alnwick has had absolutely nothing to do so far.

Argyle's Rami Al Hajj lays the ball off for Morgan Whittaker but Saturday's matchwinner drags his shot well wide and it goes out for an Oxford goal kick.

The stoppage allows treatment for Cameron Brannagan, who seems to be in some discomfort and the physio is looking at the United midfielder's left ankle.

After that incredibly nervy start for Plymouth Argyle that chance for Al Hajj has really lifted the crowd here.

Argyle are looking for that cross-field ball to Tymoteusz Puchacz on the left and the Poland international debutant is looking good.

The Pilgrims are still making simple errors - but when you have not won a league game since 5 November you expect a few nerves

You can tell these two sides have been struggling recently.

Although Cardiff have started fairly brightly, there's a certain level of apprehension about the early stages to this game, which transmits to the stands at times.

  10. CLOSE!published at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Plymouth 0-0 Oxford United

Rami Al Hajj is causing United some problems and after checking back inside on his right foot he bends a ball towards the far corner but it starts too far out and goes comfortably wide.

Jamie Cumming had that one covered, I think.

Cardiff continue to threaten and keeper Jonathan Bond has to dive to his left to push away a shot from Chris Willock. Good start this by the Bluebirds.

It's been a reasonable start from Argyle, we've looked good in possession. Oxford aren't looking that threatening at the moment.

What a stunning save that was from Jamie Cumming!

Al Hajj can't believe that hasn't gone in.

Oh what a chance for the hosts to open the scoring!

New Argyle signing Tymo Puchacz sets up Rami Al Hajj and his effort looks set to be aiming for the top corner but for a brilliant one-handed save from Jamie Cumming.

The rebound falls to Bali Mumba, but he blazes his effort high and wide from a tight angle.

Great bit of play there from the hosts.

It's been a positive start from Cardiff, who are pinning Watford back early on. The Hornets have lost three league games in a row and have looked nervous at the back on a couple of occasions already.

Both sides just working each other out at the moment.

The Green Army, including their drummer, have begun this one nice and loudly I'm happy to report.

The first attempt on goal comes from Cardiff's Alex Robertson, whose tame effort from near the edge of the penalty area is gathered by keeper Jonathan Bond.

Chance less than a minute in for the visitors!

A long throw from the right-hand touchline bounces in the Argyle box but goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw, in for Conor Hazard tonight, punches the ball away from harm.

Plymouth Argyle's famous Green Army have given their new head coach Miron Muslic a superb ovation.

The Austrian was introduced to the fans to huge cheers.

The sound of Semper Fidelis - Argyle's traditional walk-on music - blazes out across Home Park as the teams file out.

Before the game he said how Argyle's colours "were now his colours" and that commitment has been returned by all four sides of the stadium.

Let's see how his first game goes.....
