Liam Rosenior might not have been on the touchline tonight, but it's his Hull side who are in touch in the play-off race, just three points back with two games remaining.

Mark Robins had an enormous challenge to rouse his players from their Wembley woe on Sunday evening to face the Tigers tonight but though they must have been weary in body and mind, they did just what he said, they gave it a real good go, they just fell short when it mattered.

Thanks for your company this evening, now get some rest, we're all going to need our energy when the Championship returns on Friday night.

    Goodnight!

It seems Hull boss Liam Rosenior picked up his third booking of the season at Watford on Saturday, which likely explains his absence from the dugout this evening.

Some mouth-watering prospects in store this weekend, with plenty still to be resolved at the top, bottom and of course, in the play-off race.

  6. 'You can't concede this many goals and expect to win'published at 21:56 British Summer Time 24 April 2024

    FT: Coventry 2-3 Hull

    Steve Ogrizovic

The first-half was predictable. I thought Coventry would be slow out of the blocks after the disappointment on Sunday and they were. The second-half was much better.

Ellis Simms comes on, Haji Wright comes on and then just when you think Coventry were going to get back in it, Bobby Thomas comes in with a bad pass. Collins should be stronger but it was more Thomas' fault for the back pass than Collins.

The equaliser just wouldn't come. You can't expect to concede the amount of goals Coventry do and expect to win. They are scoring lots of goals but not keeping enough clean sheets.

They've just got to hope that Norwich and West Brom don't pick up any points. It's do-able but they are going to need a massive helping hand from those two clubs - and look after things on their own end.

  7. What does it all mean then?published at 21:51 British Summer Time 24 April 2024

    FT: Coventry 2-3 Hull

Hull City are now within three points of Norwich and West Brom, although with only two games to play and an inferior goal difference.

Coventry need something approaching a miracle. They need to win all their final three games, against Blackburn, Ipswich and QPR, and hope Norwich and West Brom lose both of their final two games, and Hull lose at least one.

Five goals, six cautions, one team still alive in the play-off race. Hull.

Yes, Coventry might not be mathematically eliminated, but the Tigers' win tonight has put them in the box seat to pounce on any slip ups from Norwich or West Brom in the final two games of the season.

What a game of football. Another great advert for the Championship.

  9. CLOSE!published at 90+6 mins

    Coventry 2-3 Hull

Coventry's Jay Dasilva blazes the ball over Ryan Alsop's crossbar from the edge of the box. Hull fans can breathe again... for a moment.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 90+5 mins

    Coventry 2-3 Hull

Hull keeper Ryan Alsop has tipped a Liam Kitching header over the bar from Coventry's third successive corner deep into stoppage-time.

Coventry are throwing everything at it.

  11. INJURY TIMEpublished at 90 mins

There will be EIGHT added minutes.

    Hull fans are not happy.

A glimmer of hope for the hosts?

  12. CLOSE!published at 88 mins

    Coventry 2-3 Hull

Haji Wright blazes high and wide from an angle after racing away from the Hull defence down that left. Ryan Alsop wasn't even tested. Was that the chance?

  13. 'Coventry could get an equaliser'published at 21:37 British Summer Time 24 April 2024

    Coventry 2-3 Hull

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

That goal has just given Hull the chance to sit behind the ball. I wouldn't put it past Coventry to get an equaliser but it's just a little bit more difficult to break them down now.

  14. Postpublished at 87 mins

    Coventry 2-3 Hull

Jamie Allen is on for Coventry in the place of Ben Sheaf. How much have they got left in the tank? They must be running on fumes and a bubbling sense of injustice at the moment.

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 85 mins

    Coventry 2-3 Hull

Hull are desperate for a spot-kick after Jaden Philogene goes down under a challenge from Jay Dasilva but Leigh Doughty opts against giving the visitors a second spot-kick of the night.

Not too many protests from Philogene in fairness.

That's first kick of the game for Noah Ohio. It was a poor touch off Bobby Thomas but Bradley Collins has got to be stronger. You've got to defend with your life and it was too easy for Ohio.

I would have gone to ground, both shins, anything to stop the ball going in.

Oh wow. Hull's Noah Ohio has been on for a matter of seconds but he's taken a gamble to chase down a backpass from Bobby Thomas and poked the ball past the hesitating Bradley Collins to put Hull back in front.

Another crazy goal which have Mark Robins looking to the heavens.

It's been coming, Fabio Carvalho had blazed over from close range with the goal at his mercy moments before.

Can Coventry dig deep to keep their season alive?

Better from Hull in terms of approach play but Coventry keeper Brad Collins picks up a tame effort from Regan Slater.

It's like a basketball match - end to end. Coventry need the three points but so do Hull.

    There's been that much happening.

That post-goal surge from the Sky Blues fans has all but evaporated again.

There are more than 25,000 here tonight.

But they're not making anything like the same din they did at Wembley on Sunday.

They have just over 20 minutes left to roar their side to a big finish, while knowing that Hull still look a threat on the break.
