Nick Cushing has seemingly ruled himself out of becoming Arsenal's next manager.

The former Manchester City women's boss emerged as an early candidate to replace Jonas Eidevall, but told a pre-match news conference he expects to still be with Major League Soccer (MLS) side New York City next season.

"The whole story is news to me," Cushing said when asked about him being linked with a WSL return.

"There has been no contact from anybody outside this organisation with myself. I can confirm I will be here next year."

  8. 'When we get to that level we're unstoppable'published at 22:03 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November

    FT: Man City 4-0 Tottenham

    Manchester City

Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw: "For me I just pride myself in trying to work for the team because I know with the players I have around me I'm going to get opportunities. It works out in the end in the first goal. Overall it was a good team performance.

On having a good record against Tottenham: "I'm quite a confident player and I know what I can do on the pitch and Tottenham is no different. I'm just scoring against them and what can I say?"

On wanting to get a hat trick: "Normally when you score that early in the game you get the momentum and get even more confident. Lauren put a really good cross in for me."

On the feeling at Man City: "At the back end of last season we just fell short with the goal difference, it's about staying consistent because we know we have the quality. Once we go at every game on the front foot from the first whistle we're really good at that. We have to keep going and see where we can raise the level even better so when we get to that level we're unstoppable."

  10. 'I think we can be better'published at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November

    FT: Man City 4-0 Tottenham

    Manchester City

Man City boss Gareth Taylor speaking to Sky Sports after the 4-0 win over Tottenham, which was kickstarted by Khadija Shaw's goal after just 23 seconds: "It’s a really early goal. You probably won’t get much earlier than that. Bunny has been aggressive in the last few games. It was a bit of a gift but we will take it. When you have someone like Lauren [Hemp] who players super passes in, they are so hard to deal with."

On another goal for Jill Roord: "She has given everything. Those are the type of players you want to attract."

On his message after the game with a big week coming up: "I said to them I think we can be better. I thought at times tonight we were a little bit loose. A little bit slow with our play. It's really difficult to be critical because it's a different environment for us."

  12. 'It's hard to compete against top teams'published at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November

    FT: Man City 4-0 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Robert Vilahamn, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's in the first seconds they score that goal and it kills the momentum a little bit of how we want to start the game. We tried to get back in it and then it's another goal. Mentally it's really hard, you can see the self confidence of the players is lost for a while before they come back into the game. We just need to understand how good they are in the second half and that we don't give away any more."

On Spurs' confidence: "It's a mixture of quality as well. The mistakes we do is something we need to develop a bit better on, we need to do better actions in some of these situations. We need to find ways to not concede these goals so easily. Self-confidence is a mixture of performances so it's a mix of things I would say."

On if he regrets not starting with a back five: "If you start with a five and we still do the mistake it doesn't matter. The second goal is a cross in the box. It's not tactically that we concede those two goals. Perhaps in the second half we should might do it but it doesn't always help. It's a very good learning now for how we go through this because we have a big game next week and Arsenal had a good game so it will be an interesting week."

On what the difference is between Spurs and the likes of Man City: "It's obviously the quality of some of their key players are the best players in the world, Bunny Shaw is scoring every game and so players. Tactically they have worked together for years and have a good squad as well. We are taking good steps but it's really hard to compete against top teams. In the long run we know what to do but it's going to take time and we realise the gap is big and we just need to handle this loss."

  14. 'We really enjoyed that one'published at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November

    FT: Man City 4-0 Tottenham

    Manchester City

Manchester City's Khadija Shaw speaking to Sky Sports after scoring a hat-trick: "We really enjoyed that one. We spoke as a team that we wanted to come out here and be on the front foot. Fortunate for me with my pressing that I’ve been working on we managed to get the goal. It was a good night."

"We always talk about pressing and what we can do off the ball. This season we worked really hard in pre-season to get that done. We scored early and we haven’t really scored early in a game. Having this one [Lauren Hemp] beside me makes it easier. I’m just enjoying myself at the moment.

"With the players that I have around me I know that I’m going to get crosses, it’s just making the right movements in the box and they will find me. I’ve just been getting better and growing so I’m happy."

  17. 'It wasn't good enough'published at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November

    FT: Man City 4-0 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham's Molly Bartrip, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was tough game. We played Man City many times and know the quality they bring. Today we weren't at the races and started poorly. When you conceded a goal like that so quickly it's so tough to come back. It wasn't good enough today, it's as simple as that. Too many goals conceded and it's just not good enough for us.

"With it being so early on it's tough. As a group we do have a lot of good mentality and we do have it in us to come back. A team like Man City control games so when you get your chances you've got to take them.

"The last however many games we've conceded too many goals and it's just not good enough. We have to look at ourselves as individuals, as a team, do the reviews and make sure we come back stronger."

On what they need to focus on in preparing for the north London derby: "We have to be defending better. It's everyone, everyone has got to be working harder. You've got to do everything you can to stop that ball going in the back of a net as a team."

It was a non-contest really. City were so dominant and Tottenham rarely threatened. There was a real gap between the teams.

It's been a good evening for the home fans and they have enjoyed it, calling for players to shoot on sight and cheering loudly when Khadija Shaw was announced as the Player of the Match.

Three hat-tricks against the same opponent... Ruthless.
