Spurs midfield is the problem.Their adaption from defense to attack is far to slow.

    Man City 2-0 Tottenham

It should be 3-0 to City.

Another rapid run from Lauren Hemp down the left sees her put a header on a plate for Aoba Fujino.

The forward almost gets too much power on it though and sends it looping over the bar.

    Arsenal 3-0 Brighton

More of the same at Emirates Stadium, with Arsenal continually pushing in the final third.

Brighton are trying to play their way out but can't get through the hosts' well organised defence.

Gareth Taylor is taking his usual seat in the stands to get a better view of things. He's come down to the touchline occasionally to relay instructions. But on the whole, he's not had to intervene too much!

Bright play from Spurs as they drive up the field through Drew Spence.

The midfielder takes aim from distance and sees her shot blocked and Matilda Vinberg can only send her rebound effort over the bar.

    Close!

Caitlin Foord sends the ball into the middle and it results in absolute pinball as Beth Mead and Alessia Russo try to get shots away.

Neither can, but it drops to Frida Maanum who fires towards goal and Arsenal earn a corner as her effort takes a deflection before going over.

Nothing comes from the set piece, though.

A mini game of head tennis in the Man City box as defenders and attackers trade headers, but Beth England's final effort loops harmlessly into the gloves of Khiara Keating.

There's a pause in play in north London as Brighton defender Maria Thorisdottir is down and in need of some treatment.

Just to illustrate how dominant the hosts have been in the opening 35 minutes or so, the map of average positions for Spurs players so far looks like they are lining up for kick off.

They have hardly been in the City half of the pitch.

    Arsenal 3-0 Brighton

Arsenal probing from the first minute once again.

Alessia Russo gets down the line and spins a cross into a tempting area, but nobody meets it.

More Arsenal success to come in the second half? Brighton, meanwhile, need to improve - they didn't attempt a single shot before the break.

    Man City 2-0 Tottenham

A rare opening for Tottenham as Beth England runs in down the right and whips a dangerous cross into the middle.

Matilda Vinberg slides in at the back post but can't get a touch to guide the ball goalwards.

Khadija Shaw is smelling another WSL hat-trick here.

The Jamaican gets up well to latch onto a Lauren Hemp cross but she connects poorly and her header drifts wide of the target.

Evaliina Summanen's pass is intercepted by Aoba Fujino on top right of the box but the Japan international cannot find a teammate and Spurs get away with it this time.

They are persisting in playing out from the back here despite having already been punished for it this evening.

When Tottenham do have the ball, they are struggling to get up the pitch. Drew Spence and Jess Naz just made a few runs but Ash Neville chose to play it back.

Spence was not happy about it and Tottenham assistant manager Vicky Jepson then came out to the edge of the dugout to pass on the observation to Robert Vilahamn.

Tottenham look to have found some space on the left with full-back Ashleigh Neville.

She tries to pick out Matilda Vinberg ahead of her but the pass is loose and City regain the ball once again.
