Newcastle assistant manager Jason Tindall on Dan Burn, who was filmed pushing a stranger's broken-down car to safety recently: "No one here was surprised. Dan is such a level-headed lad. You know every single day he steps foot into the building and you know what he is going to deliver. He is going to give 100% commitment on and off the pitch.

"He has always got time for people and always ready to give a helping hand wherever and whenever that maybe. It's a big credit to Burn and his character. But no one was surprised because that is Dan Burn. He's got all the credit and accolades on the back of that fantastic attitude."

    Newcastle United

More from Newcastle assistant manager Jason Tindall on Eddie Howe: "It's always difficult especially if it's someone who you have worked so closely for such a long time. He's never missed more than a day or two in the whole time we have been working together.

It's a new situation for me as well as the players and the staff here. But what gives you comfort is that he is in the best possible hands. He is not a silly guy, so Eddie will make sure he will be back 100%."

  8. 'It's just been a few text messages'published at 10:02 British Summer Time 15 April

Newcastle v Crystal Palace (Wed, 19:30 BST)

    Newcastle United

More from Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall on Eddie Howe: "It's just been a few text messages yesterday. The most important thing for the manager now is to rest and recover and probably not worry too much about anything other than making sure he is recovering as quickly as possible.

"Maybe in the next couple of days, if he is feeling better, maybe we will have a little more dialogue.

"I am sure when Eddie does return, he will probably ease himself in into the role. It's important when he comes back, he will be able to lead the team like he always does. Hopefully we can have him here as our leader as soon as possible but only when he is 100% right to do so."

  9. 'Crystal Palace are a dangerous side'published at 09:58 British Summer Time 15 April

Newcastle v Crystal Palace (Wed, 19:30 BST)

    Newcastle United

Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall on facing Crystal Palace: "We are not thinking about anything other than preparations for tomorrow night to deliver a performance that we know we need to deliver to be good enough to win the game.

"We know that Crystal Palace are in fantastic form. Saturday was only their second defeat on the road in 15 games. They don't concede too many goals. It's going to be a really, really difficult challenge for us. They are a dangerous side.

"But if we can go out and deliver performances like the weekend, hopefully that will go a long way in helping us getting the points that we want."

    Newcastle United

Newcastle assistant manager Jason Tindall on the win against Manchester United: "Obviously really proud. The players went out there and delivered a performance that the manager would be proud of and expect. It's a testament to the group of players and staff at the football club.

"They showed a fantastic attitude and everyone pulled together at a time like this when they needed to. Hence, they went out and delivered the performance against Manchester United."

  12. 'We know the expectations and demands'published at 09:44 British Summer Time 15 April

Newcastle v Crystal Palace (Wed, 19:30 BST)

    Newcastle United

Newcastle United assistant manager Jason Tindall on what role Eddie Howe will play in the upcoming fixtures: "We had minimal contact last week too in terms of preparations [against Manchester United]. But we know the expectations and demands we put on each other and ourselves each and every day. It's got to remain that way until the manager is back.

"We know what to do and how we have to prepare in order to deliver performances that the manger will be proud of.

"It's part of my job. I will do the best I possibly can in his absence. We have worked together for 17 years now, so we know what is expected of each other. Hopefully, I can deliver the same messages as he would want and hopefully he will be back as soon as possible."

We have had minimal dialogue together since the announcement. We know that he is in the best possible hands and he will be back as soon as he feels he is ready to come back 100% to lead the team.

"Of course, your health is the most important thing and that is why it's so important that when Eddie decides to come back, he comes back and is able to lead the team like he does day in day out, fully recovered. And I am sure he will do that."

  19. 'Race for Europe is so congested'published at 09:13 British Summer Time 15 April

    Bournemouth 1-0 Fulham

    Stephen Kelly
Former Tottenham and Fulham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle have done everybody else a favour by winning the EFL Cup and looking likely to finish in the top five.

England have five spots in next season's Champions League because of how good Arsenal and Aston Villa have done this season. So Newcastle's Europa League spot will drop to the next highest finisher- which probably could be eighth.

It's so congested out there in the race for Europe and it will open up more depending on who will win the FA Cup. European places could go all the way down to ninth or 10th if things fall the right way, with Chelsea in the Conference League as well.

There are so many places up for grabs. The teams need to stay in contention.

There are three teams on 48 points - Bournemouth, Fulham and Brighton. And any one of them could end up in Europe which will be an amazing achievement.

I would put Howe, Nuno and Slot (maybe in that order actually) above Iraola and Marco Silva. Also think David Moyes should be in the conversation.
