Burnley have won just one of their 16 Premier League matches against Chelsea (D4 L11), a 3-2 away win in August 2017 when the Blues were reigning champions.
Chelsea have won seven of their eight away Premier League visits to Turf Moor against Burnley, drawing the other. No team has played more away games against an opponent in the competition without losing.
Burnley are without a single clean sheet in 16 Premier League games against Chelsea, with only West Brom vs Arsenal (26) and Wolves vs Arsenal (18) facing an opponent more without ever recording a shutout. The Clarets’ last top-flight clean sheet against the Blues was in a 1-0 win in August 1973, with Alan Stevenson in goal for them that day.
Burnley have lost all four of their Premier League home games this season; only four teams in top-flight history have ever lost their first five on home soil in a single campaign – Manchester United in 1930-31, Portsmouth in 2009-10, Bolton Wanderers in 2011-12 and Newcastle United in 2018-19 (Everton could also suffer that fate this season).
Chelsea are looking to win consecutive Premier League games for the first time since March, while they last won back-to-back away league games in October last season.
Both of Chelsea's Premier League wins this season have been to nil (3-0 v Luton, 2-0 v Fulham), with the Blues winning just two of their last 26 league games when conceding at least once (D7 L17).
After a run of conceding at least once in 11 consecutive Premier League games (21 goals conceded), Chelsea have now kept a clean sheet in three of their last five (2 goals conceded). They've not kept back-to-back league clean sheets since a run of three in February.
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany could become the fourth manager to lose his first five Premier League home games in charge, after Mick McCarthy in 2003, Terry Connor in 2012 and Chris Ramsey in 2015. Kompany would be the first to do so from the start of a campaign.
Having won five and drawn two of his first seven Premier League meetings with Burnley, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino lost his last game against the Clarets, going down 2-1 with Spurs in February 2019. However, the Argentine has won 85.4% of his Premier League games against promoted sides (35/41), the highest ratio of any manager to take charge of at least 10 such matches.
Chelsea's Raheem Sterling has been involved in 18 goals in his last 17 Premier League games against promoted sides (14 goals, 4 assists), netting a brace in his last two such appearances against Nottingham Forest in May and Luton Town this season.
