A class delivery from Ceri Holland to the back post, but Sandy Baltimore gets there before Grace Fisk can head it home.

Chelsea will have to stay alert to those pacey Liverpool counter-attacks from now on.

A touch too many for Liverpool, perhaps.

Lucy Bronze loses the ball on the left and it's fizzed into Olivia Smith, who lays it off for Ceri Holland instead of going alone. The Wales international runs straight into Kadeisha Buchanan before she can line up a shot.

An audacious long range strike there from Ceri Holland. That's not causing any concern for Hannah Hampton.

No messing about from Millie Bright, who doesn't want to see what trickery Olivia Smith can do with the ball.

The Liverpool forward receives the ball and holds it up, but she's quickly bundled down as Bright steamrolls into the back of her.

Chelsea are just starting to move the ball quickly around the box, making it difficult for Liverpool to get any sort of sustained possession of the ball.

Jenna Clark loses the ball in the middle of the park and Mayra Ramírez is on her way, sprinting forward before sending the ball out to Johanna Rytting Kaneryd.

The attack starts to peter out until Erin Cuthbert takes a pop from 20 yards out, but she lofts it well above the crossbar.

It was such a quick transition through the thirds from Chelsea. Johanna Rytting Kaneryd drives forward and switches the ball wide to Guro Reiten, who finds Sandy Baltimore. You just wonder if she could have gotten the shot away quicker.

A bullet of a strike from Sandy Baltimore, but it's at a difficult angle and Rachael Laws gets her hands up quickly to make the stop.

Gemma Bonner is a really experienced centre half but she has definitely got her hands full with Mayra Ramirez today.

Chelsea are on top now, pushing forward and peppering Liverpool's box with plenty of crosses.

The away fans have travelled in big numbers today. I met friends Iris and Ava outside the stadium who left London at 7am this morning to make the early kick-off.

They are among the crowd sat in the corner of the stand behind the dugouts. They have brought drums and are making a lot of noise.

I would have been tempted to leave out Bright for this game. Liverpool are all about turning the CBs and pace in behind which is where Millie struggles, especially of late.

Hannah Hampton is looking for that ball out to the right to Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, which is definitely a good option for Chelsea.

They are recognising that Liverpool out of possession are dropping into a back five so they are trying to get the ball out wide quickly.

That's harsh on Ceri Holland. The Liverpool player gets the ball fairly, but she sends Lucy Bronze to the floor in the process and the referee is quick to signal a foul.

Luckily for the Reds, Chelsea waste the free-kick - sending it wide.

Really good play from Chelsea. Johanna Rytting Kaneryd has had a great start to the season, scored plenty of goals already. She finds the pass for Maika Hamano on the edge of the box but Rachel Laws had it covered all the way.

A big save from Rachael Laws to deny Maika Hamano's strike and send the ball out for a corner.

After a bit of a scramble, Liverpool manage to clear.

This has been an electric start at St Helens Stadium.

Matt Beard's adrenaline has already gone up.

He was dancing up and down during Liverpool's set-pieces as they came close, but he had his hands on his head moments after when Chelsea won it back and went up the other end immediately.

It is twice now that Olivia Smith has been able to beat Kadeisha Buchanan who knows she is in a proper contest today. Smith is just so driven and determined to get to the ball and beat her marker.
