Oooft. That wasn't far off from Taylor Hinds, who picks up the ball on the edge of the box before drilling a shot low goalwards.

It takes a deflection on the way in and drifts wide.

Hinds got two goals against Aston Villa last weekend, and it looks like she's in the mood for more today.

    Liverpool v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor speaking to BBC Two on Catarina Macario's return to the bench: "Always depends on the scenario in the game but it’s good to have Catarina back with us. She is a creative player and good quality, good talent from her. If we can manage the game in the way we want, she will probably come in for 15/20 minutes."

On Liverpool:"We are expecting to have a tough game, especially from the records in the last seasons. We know it will be a difficult place to come and win so mentally, we are ready to face a team playing a physical game as well. It is always one game that we need to focus on, and even if we are in a good dynamic and we have good results, it is always really important to be focussed on this one, making sure we start with high intensity and just call for calm really quickly in the game, if possible."

On losing 4-3 at Liverpool last season: "I didn’t talk at all about that game but as a coach, I watched that game. The scenario was cruel for the team but we need to learn from that. I think we are in a different dynamic, it’s also a new era for us. We are focussed on ourselves, we are confident and we need to show again today, we are a different team from last season."

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sandy Baltimore was brought in as a forward left-sided player but she has filled a real problem area for Chelsea, that left side of defence. Jess Carter played a lot there last season and has moved on now, Niamh Charles is injured at the moment, and Baltimore has filled that position.

Sonia Bompastor has put Baltimore, a more attacking player, in that role knowing that Chelsea will dominate the majority of games. And Baltimore has been a key player for them this season.

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC Two

It has been impressive, nobody knew what to expect with Sonia Bompastor taking over Emma Hayes.

I think they have been fantastic, I think the way they have used rotation within the team has been impressive, the amount of different goalscorers, the way that they have found ways to win games and been dominant in that.

Today is a game that they need to win. They've found it difficult against Liverpool in recent seasons away from home. Bompastor has said they looked closely at those games and I expect a different Chelsea team today.

  12. 'We have to be perfect in defence'published at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

    Liverpool v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Matt Beard speaking to BBC Two: "It’s a blow [to have Fuka Nagano missing]. She’s a fantastic player. Gemma Evans comes into the back line and Jas goes into midfield. Jas [Matthews] is obviously a very, very good player, but it’s a blow to lose Fuko."

Confident after recent home results v Chelsea?: "Yes. A different team, different managers though. I thought last week was probably one of their best performances with and without the ball. We know it is going to be a challenge today but we’re looking forward to it.

How perfect do the defence have to be today: "We’ve got to be perfect. If you look at the Everton game last week, two or three mistakes and the ball is in the back of the net. We don’t have the ability to make loads of errors, otherwise we will get punished. If you look at Stamford Bridge last year, that happened to us as well. We know on their day that they are a top side, but we are looking forward to the game and we know that we can compete."

On inconsistency so far: "Converting the chances that we are taking more than anything else. We’ve been a little bit unlucky with personnel and injuries. This is our sixth or seventh game including Conti Cup and we’ve played three different systems in that time. Hopefully, a bit of consistency in team selection and the system we are going to play will help."

  13. 'Nothing to say Liverpool can't repeat last season's success'published at 12:22 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

    Liverpool v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

There is nothing to say that Liverpool can't repeat their success from last season. They have Matt Beard at the helm, he has won titles, knows how to come up against different managers, teams and formations. I think that is why Chelsea have struggled against them in recent years.

These were the words Emma Hayes spoke after Chelsea fell to a 4-3 defeat by Liverpool at the back end of last season.

Less than three weeks later, the Blues lifted their fifth straight WSL trophy.

Gemma Bonner (23) of Liverpool celebrates scoring Liverpool's fourth goalImage source, Getty Images

What a game this was last season, when Liverpool's Gemma Bonner snatched an injury-time winner against Chelsea in a thrilling seven-goal spectacle.

An 83rd-minute own-goal by Liverpool goalkeeper Teagan Micah meant the reigning champions thought they could at least leave Merseyside with a draw.

But Bonner's header, on her 150th club appearance and her second goal of the game, provided a dramatic conclusion after the hosts had twice let leads slip.

The defeat left Chelsea with a six-point deficit on leaders Manchester City, but the Blues were able to claw their way back over the last few games to steal the title back on the last day of the season.

    Liverpool v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

    Ellen White
Former England striker on Women's Football Weekly

Chelsea's big goal difference after five games shows their ruthless mentality. It is really impressive the amount of different goalscorers that they have had, they are not solely reliant on that number nine that they feel has to score the goals, they are coming from all across the pitch.

Against Palace they scored seven goals, had six different scorers and four different assist makers. They also had five different scorers against Everton. It could all come down to goal difference at the end of the season and they are significantly ahead of Man City already.

    St Helen's Stadium

Liverpool are still chasing their first win here at St Helen's Stadium but they have a good home track record against Chelsea.

Those results came at Prenton Park but Chelsea will not have forgotten their trip to Merseyside in May when former manager Emma Hayes conceded the WSL title, only for Manchester City to slip up a week later.

Matt Beard's side are hoping to replicate that good fortune in St Helen's and would welcome a result this afternoon.

While Chelsea's Sonia Bompastor could become the first manager to win their first four away games in the WSL, Beard wants to make it five wins out of 11 against his former club Chelsea.

Fans from both sides are optimistic but it's Chelsea who have started the season in impressive form.

With no wins in their opening six games, these managers could be coming under some serious pressure if results don't improve soon.

Aston Villla boss Robert de Pauw said earlier this week that he knows clubs "cut the head off of the manager" if results don't meet expectations.

Rehanne Skinner said her West Ham side just needed to get "one over the line", while Everton manager Brian Sorensen said the club's takeover deal and injury situation are "not ideal".

More unwanted stats for Brian Sorensen's side...

Everton’s Veatriki Sarri has had more shots without scoring than any other player in the Women’s Super League so far this season (13).

The Toffees are yet to score a WSL goal this season via one of their own players. Their only goal, during last month's draw with West Ham, was an own goal.
