I'm an Arsenal fan who never judged Havertz solely on goal contributions. Sure some of his misses were awful but I think he's often key in our build up play and how we execute our press among other things. He'll be a big loss.

    Paul, Dublin

Re: Goo at 13:46. It can be both. Yes he doesn’t finish enough of the chances Arsenal create, but also he was still on for 23 goals this season, so will be a big miss.

  4. 'They can be direct'published at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February

West Ham v Brentford (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

Potter on Brentford's attacking strengths: "I think [Mikkel] Damsgaard really helps them and (Kevin) Schade on the other side, provides a real threat. They have a real understanding of how they build-up, I think their two number sixes or midfielders connect the game really well. They can be direct, but they can also build from the midfield."

  5. 'Our keeper at the moment is Filip'published at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February

Brighton v Chelsea (Fri, 20:00 GMT)

At his press conference earlier today, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was asked about goalkeeper selection.

He said: "I said that the Filip [Jorgensen] solution [against West Ham] was also to give Robert [Sanchez] some time to recover mentally and physically,.

"But the idea is not to game-by-game change the keeper. In the last Premier League game we had Filip and in the FA Cup it was Robert. Our keeper at the moment is Filip."

  6. Potter 'excited' for 'tough game'published at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February

West Ham v Brentford (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

Potter on Brentford's form: "That's probably a reflection on the consistent work that Thomas (Frank) and his staff have done over a long period of time. I think that they have done a wonderful job.

"They have improved all the time despite selling players. When they're in the game they defend high and really well, it's man-focused and aggressive but they can also defend deep and attack big spaces. Their build-up play has improved a lot. I think they just maximise everything that they have.

"It's going to be a tough game we know that but at the same time we're excited and looking forward to it."

  7. Merseyside Police appeal for information after Doucoure abusepublished at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February

“We have successfully prosecuted so-called fans for racist abuse and they have been handed football banning orders along with a criminal record for their behaviour.

“Merseyside Police will not tolerate hate crime in any form and is working to identify and bring to justice anyone found responsible for committing it.”

  8. 'It's a different dynamic'published at 14:08 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February

West Ham v Brentford (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

Potter on the West Ham's attacking options: "It's a different dynamic. We've used Mo (Mohammed Kudus) and we have used Lucas (Pacqueta) because we lost Fullkrug in the first game, so we have had to adapt a little bit in terms of how we attack but obviously a focal point, a number nine changes the dynamic."

  9. Potter on squad updatespublished at 14:04 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February

West Ham v Brentford (Sat, 20:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham boss Graham Potter on team news: "We have had some positive news in terms that Paqueta has trained so he should be available, Alvarez should also be available and Todibo is also making progress and has a good chance of making the squad but probably a little bit too soon to be in the starting eleven.

"Fullkrug and Antoinio are still away, and Sommerville has had a setback with his hamstring, so he's more likely to return after the international break which is a big blow."

Liverpool and Everton have released a joint-statement to condemn 'in the strongest possible terms' the racist abuse suffered by midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure following Wednsday night's game.

'Such abuse is reprehensible and will not, and should not, be tolerated,' a joint-statement read.

'Together, the two clubs will work with Merseyside Police, who are conducting an investigation with the aim of identifying the individuals responsible.

'We also encourage people who witness or experience online abuse to report and highlight it to the social media platforms on which it appears.

'We must all, including the social media companies, take a zero-tolerance stance. Platforms need to take accountability and action to ban such abusers.

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler on player availability for tomorrow's game: "Lewis Dunk is doubtful. So we have to see if he can train today but I'm not sure if he will be ready for the game tomorrow.

"[Pervis] Estupinan is still doing rehab so he will not be an option for the game.

"[Mats] Wieffer trained this week so he might be an option but we have to see how he is today and then we have Solly March, who's back in team training but I think it might be too early for him."

People talking about Havertz being out like he’s a 25 goal a season striker. Just a couple of weeks ago the same people were saying how he wasn’t good enough to play as a striker and Arsenal should buy a new one. Make it make sense !!!!!

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has also faced the press today and he said on the absence of Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson: "I'm not surprised because I know how it can be with injuries in the Premier League.

"It's part of the business. It changes our approach in terms of Nicolas Jackson being a key player for them but as I have said it's about doing the things that we did in the last game."

"The problem is they think they are important just if they play, if they don't play they don't think they are important. But now also with the transfer closed, everyone is here."

  18. Liverpool can still be satisfied after Goodison furypublished at 13:32 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Liverpool Head Coach Arne Slot prides himself on staying cool during matches - but even he could not maintain his calm in the hothouse that was Goodison Park last night.

He was sent off, along with assistant Sipke Hulshoff, as were Everton's Abdoulaye Doucoure and Liverpool midfield man Curtis Jones.

They were all involved in chaotic scenes after James Tarkowski's equaliser, Liverpool's rage and frustration clear after the goal was given.

When the dust settled, and there is an awful lot of dust to settle after an explosive night at the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, Slot and Liverpool can reflect on now being seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Would they have settled for that at the start of the season? You bet.

"When you look at the Champions League games and looking back as a player and you played in front of your home crowd, there is a connection I know as a coach and someone who loves sports and football what it does to the team. I can only hope the support will be behind the players.

"If there is anything you want to get off your chest individually or in groups, we live in a society where that’s possible, but when the whistle starts until the end of the game I can only hope the players are fully supported by the crowd and it will lift them."
