Brentford v West Ham (Sat 15:00 BST)

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui thinks his side have 'deserved more' from their matches so far this season: "I am sure that these players will overcome but it is true that we need one win and we want to win the next match.

"Brentford are a strong team and we have to head into the match with big energy and commitment.

"In the Premier League, each match is very difficult for every team.

"We have had good moments, but we need to be more consistent to make sure we win matches.

"In the matches we have lost we have deserved more, but I repeat, we have lost them and we don’t find excuses, and we have to improve."

  2. 'We were close to winning the match'published at 13:22 British Summer Time 26 September

Brentford v West Ham (Sat 15:00 BST)

    West Ham United

Despite the heavy defeat to Liverpool in the EFL Cup, West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui took positives from the game: "It's always hard to have one less player in the match. It’s true that we did very good things for 75 minutes, but it was a very different end after the red card.

"We did positive things in my opinion and were close to winning the match. The boys worked very hard for 75 minutes but we have to accept the result."

It hasn't been the perfect start of the Premier League season for the three newly promoted sides.

Both Leicester City and Ipswich Town have drawn three times and lost twice in the first five league games.

Meanwhile, Southampton have drawn match one and lost four.

Leicester are 15th in the table, just two points off the relegation zone.

If Julen Lopetegui doesn't survive as West Ham boss, would you take David Moyes back for a third stint in charge?

Apologies to Julien, who is a good manager I have no doubt. But West Ham are nothing without the Moyesiah. It’s such a toxic relationship - he bails them out every time and then when the ship is steadied they start batting their eyelashes at other, trendier managers. If Moyes does return for a third time I think the Hammers need to bake him a nice apology cake.

I will have a bet this weekend, West Ham will have a new manager next week! It's that old saying for Hammers fans, "be careful what you wish for". Julen is a goner, at least David Moyes had a plan? If the board want to continue throwing good money away, throw it at Gareth Southgate or someone like Maxi Allegri? We have the fans and the stadium, we just need someone to lead the club to the next level.

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui and his injured calf travel to Brentford on Saturday, looking to find a bit of consistency after a difficult start to his life at the London Stadium.

The Hammers are 14th in the league table after five games, with one win, three defeats (all at home) and a draw to their name. Last night's Carabao Cup loss to Liverpool provided further fuel to those who think Spaniard's time is running out at the club.

After facing Brentford, West Ham's next league fixtures are home to Ipswich Town, away to Tottenham and then another home match against Manchester United.

Before the first game of the season, Nuno Espirito Santo promised to stop moaning about referees and vowed to trust them.

"I hope not [to moan], honestly," said the Forest boss before the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in August.

"We had a nice meeting, the managers, and he [referees' chief Howard Webb] explained in detail the changes that they want to implement. Decisions to take less time, better decisions, I'm confident. We have to trust the referees."

Six weeks later, Nuno has been handed a charge by the Football Association for acting in an improper manner and allegedly using abusive and insulting language towards match officials.

One player and both managers were sent off as Brighton and Nottingham Forest maintained their unbeaten Premier League records in an entertaining draw last weekend.

After four goals at Amex Stadium, the match ended in controversial fashion when Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White was shown a second yellow card for a sliding challenge on Brighton's Joao Pedro.

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler was dismissed by referee Rob Jones, who then also showed a red card to Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo for their reactions to the incident.

Neither manager spoke to the media after the match, leaving it to members of the coaching staff. So today's news conference should be especially interesting...

Patterns of play are better. The players seem more together and are finally holding one another to account. He's building the match fitness of the entire squad which means rotation in early season games. Why all the panic? People who want Ten Hag sacked don't understand the game beyond player ratings on FIFA

  12. Trossard red card against Man City correct, says panelpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 26 September

Referee Michael Oliver was right to send off Leandro Trossard in Arsenal's dramatic 2-2 draw at Manchester City, the Key Match Incidents panel has said.

The midfielder was dismissed in first-half injury time after kicking the ball away following a foul on Bernardo Silva on Sunday.

It was the second time the Gunners have had a player dismissed for delaying the restart after Declan Rice was sent off in the 1-1 draw against Brighton this month.

The panel, which reviews all key refereeing decisions in the Premier League each week, wrote: "Trossard clearly delays the restart by kicking the ball away."

It was not unanimous though, and one panellist thought the "split-second nature of the kick away was enough of a mitigating factor".

Arsenal were 2-1 ahead at Etihad Stadium at the time, but John Stones rescued a point for City in the 98th minute of second-half stoppage time to move them back to the top of the Premier League.

Robert Lewandowski scored his seventh league goal of the season as leaders Barcelona beat Getafe to continue their perfect start in La Liga.

The 19th-minute strike made it seven wins from their first seven league games and put Hansi Flick's side four points clear of rivals Real Madrid.

It came after visiting goalkeeper David Soria flapped at Jules Kounde's cross and it dropped into Lewandowski's path for the Pole to fire home on the volley from close range.

Lewandowski has now contributed to six goals in his last four league games (four goals and two assists).

'Hurzeler red double standards'published at 12:07 British Summer Time 26 September

Fabian Hurzeler getting an FA charge for stepping onto the pitch is just another example of the rank hypocrisy and double standards in the Premier League. Arteta spends half the game stood on the pitch and has often come close to obstructing opposition players yet is allowed to constantly get away with it.

We've already heard from Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler this morning - and if you're a Seagulls fan just joining us, the German will be on the touchline against Chelsea on Saturday, following his red card against Nottingham Forest last weekend. But there are more Premier League managers getting ready to speak to the media this afternoon, among them Everton boss Sean Dyche and Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Before we wrap up today, we'll also look ahead to tonight's Europa League openers involving Tottenham against Qarabag and Rangers away to Malmo.

This is ETH fault. He has this air about him, not a good one. He blames the team but he told them to defend and sit back. As for their pundits saying about Wolves: we’ve only ever lost one game to a Dutch team.

Are Man Utd improving under Ten Hag? Clearly they aren’t; any simple statistical analysis will tell you that. They have spent millions on players who haven’t delivered and ETH seems to have this one-eyed belief that the only good footballers come from Holland or have a Dutch connection.

People saying they have seen no improvement obviously are not watching the same games I am. We are creating so many more chances and are conceding so many fewer. The build up and patterns of play are there, Erik can't put the ball in the back of the net himself, we need to be more clinical.
