Luton are unbeaten in four home league games against Sheffield United (W1 D3) since a 6-3 loss in December 1994. The Hatters won the last time they hosted the Blades in the top-flight, 2-1 in February 1992.
Sheffield United lost the reverse fixture 3-2 against Luton in December – they’ve not lost both league meetings with the Hatters in a campaign since 1976-77 in the second tier.
After only scoring 10 goals in their first 12 Premier League matches (0.8 per game), Luton Town have found the net in each of their last 10 games, netting 22 goals across these games (2.2 per game). Only Tottenham Hotspur are on a longer run of scoring (35 games) than the Hatters.
Sheffield United have lost four different Premier League games this season by five or more goals, having only done so once before this season (0-5 vs Leicester in March 2021). They are only the sixth team to have four 5+ goal defeats in a season, along with Swindon in 1993-94, Barnsley in 1997-98, Derby in 2007-08 (5), Wigan in 2009-10 and Norwich in 2021-22.
Luton Town have scored four goals in each of their last two Premier League games, a 4-0 win over Brighton and 4-4 draw with Newcastle. The last newly promoted top-flight side to score 4+ goals in three games in a row were Sunderland in March 1977.
Sheffield United have lost 29 of their last 35 away Premier League matches (W2 D4). Across those 35 games, the Blades have only scored twice in two games, but one of those was last time out on the road in their 3-2 loss at Crystal Palace.
Sheffield United have shipped 59 goals in 23 Premier League games this season; the last top-flight side to concede 60 goals as few as 24 games into a season was Ipswich Town in 1963-64 (24th game), while the record in the Premier League era is Barnsley in 1997-98 (60th goal in 25th game).
Sheffield United’s Oliver McBurnie has more goals and assists combined than any other Blades player in the Premier League this season (4 goals, 2 assists), although he hasn’t ended on the winning side in any game he’s scored or assisted in.
Luton’s Alfie Doughty has taken more corners that have led to a goal (not necessarily providing the assist himself) in the Premier League this season than any other player (8).
Ross Barkley – who could make his 250th Premier League appearance in this match – has had a hand in six goals in his last eight games for Luton Town (3 goals, 3 assists), more than he had in his previous 45 games combined. He could also assist in three appearances in a row for the first time.
