Rachel Todd hit a brace against Spartans

A five-star performance against depleted Spartans gave Motherwell a dream start to their SWPL campaign.

The hosts had taken the lead, with Hanna Jordon's stylish opener on the 23rd minute fired high into the corner of the net.

But their lead was cancelled out just three minutes later as a scuffed clearance ended up at the feet of Bailley Collins, who slotted home from close range.

And, on the stroke of half-time, the game erupted into life as Robyn McCafferty saw red and Rachel Todd stepped up to score her first goal for the club from the penalty spot.

Motherwell stepped up through the gears in the second half, with Collins twice turning provider - firstly to set up Sarah Gibb, then providing a whipped ball for Morgan Cross to turn home and make it four.

Gibb's floated corner fell neatly for Todd to power home with 20 minutes remaining.
