A trio of dream debuts for Hearts gave Queen’s Park a nightmare start to their SWPL campaign.
The Spiders, last season’s SWPL2 champions, found themselves on the wrong end of an 11-1 drubbing at Ochilview as Eva Olid’s side sent out a statement of intent for the season.
Kerry Beattie took just two minutes to find the net as the Queen’s Park defence struggled to deal with Eilidh Shore’s cross, allowing the Northern Ireland international – who joined from Glentorran in the summer – to turn home.
Four minutes later Lauren Wade made it two, firing low across the goal past Lauren McGregor.
Against the run of play, Emma Wade pulled one back for the hosts halfway through the first period, rising over the Hearts defence from Ellie Kane's corner to power home.
But after that Hearts opened the taps, Carly Girasoli’s neat pass beating the Queen’s offside trap and allowing Wade to slot home her second, before Sade Adamolekun hit a stylish curling ball past McGregor to claim the fourth.
Four minutes into the second half Beattie struck again to make it five, capitalising on an unlucky deflection, before Adamolekun poked home the sixth.
Jess Husband side-footed home her first professional goal to make it seven for the visitors as the game entered its final 15 minutes, before Jackie Richards added to the list of debuting goalscorers.
Georgia Timms made it nine with a simple tap-in from Joely Andrews’ cross, before Jess Husband turned provider with a well delivered ball turned into the net for Richards to claim her second.
And with seconds left, Timms stroked home her second – and Hearts’ 11th – past a despondent-looking McGregor to wrap up a triumphant opening victory.
