To say that it has been a whirlwind of a day would be a massive understatement. Tottenham Hotspur have done it, they've ended their 17-year wait for a trophy and Ange Postecoglou walked the impressive talk from a few months ago. Here are more of today's best bits:

United said they would organise a barbecue should they win the Europa League final, rather than hold an open-top bus parade.

Despite losing 1-0 to Tottenham last night, the barbecue is still set to go ahead, understands our reporter Simon Stone.

Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho has put his future at the club in doubt by questioning Ruben Amorim's decision to play him for "20 minutes" in the Europa League final.

The 20-year-old was benched in favour of Mason Mount in Bilbao and only replaced the England midfielder with 19 minutes remaining of normal time.

The Argentina winger, who was linked with Chelsea and Napoli in January, was critical of Amorim's decision to hand him a limited role in the final.

"Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don't know," said Garnacho.

"The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards."

Utter nonsense to say that Ange should leave. The 21% that voted 'no' are clearly bitter Man U fans!

  7. Your verdict - Should Spurs stick with Postecoglou?published at 15:39 British Summer Time 22 May

    Ben Collins
    BBC Sport

We've had a poll at the top of this page all day, asking if Tottenham should stick with manager Ange Postecoglou after he led the club to its first trophy in 17 years.

It's coming down in a moment but the numbers have been pretty consistent throughout. As it stands, 79% of you think Ange should be given the chance to build on last night's success.

I’ve always believed in Ange. If Spurs don’t give him more time it’s a travesty. I’ll make sure to not watch the last 10 minutes of the next final we are in - flying between Wellington and Auckland en route to Vancouver during the game was tough. It still hasn’t sunk in. CHAMPIONS.

  9. Spurs receive guard of honour on arrival at Stanstedpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 22 May

    Tottenham 1-0 Man Utd

Tottenham Hotspur's flight back from Bilbao landed at Stansted airport earlier today and they received a guard of honour from two fire engines by way of a water salute.

Sometimes called a 'shower of affection', a water salute is a ritual where two fire engines spray water onto an aircraft as it taxies to its gate.

This tradition is used to mark special occasions like the inaugural flight of a new airline, the arrival of a new type of plane, or the return of a triumphant sports team.

  10. Spurs move into fourth among most successful English clubs in Europepublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 22 May

Tottenham now have four European trophies in total, claiming their first in the now defunct Cup Winners' Cup in 1963 before winning the Uefa Cup/Europa League three times.

They still have a fair way to go to get near Liverpool's English record of 13 European trophies, which started with the Uefa Cup in 1973. Their most recent came in 2019 with a win over Tottenham in the Champions League final.

The Reds have won the European Cup/Champions League six times, the Uefa Cup/Europa League three times and the Uefa Super Cup on four occasions.

European trophies won by English clubs:

    • 13: Liverpool
    • 8: Chelsea
    • 6: Manchester United
    • 4: Tottenham Hotspur
    • 3: Nottingham Forest, Manchester City
    • 2: Arsenal, Aston Villa, West Ham
    • 1: Newcastle United, Ipswich Town, Everton

Not including the Fairs Cup, Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and Intertoto Cup.

  12. Have Tottenham ever won the Super Cup?published at 15:20 British Summer Time 22 May

Uefa Super Cup trophyImage source, Getty Images

Tottenham Hotspur have never even participated in the Uefa Super Cup, let alone lifted it.

The Uefa Super Cup was founded in 1973 - just after Tottenham had won the Uefa Cup for the first time.

However, when Spurs won the competition again in 1984, the Uefa Super Cup was actually contested between the winners of the Champions League and the now defunct Cup Winners' Cup.

In 2000, that changed to how it is today - the winners of the Europa League facing the winners of the Champions League.

Their prospective opponents, Paris St-Germain or Inter Milan, have also never lifted the trophy.

Not only did Wednesday's victory secure passage to next season's Champions League for Tottenham Hotspur, but it confirmed that they will have another trophy to compete for in August.

The Uefa Super Cup, which features the winners of the Champions League taking on the winners of the Europa League, will take place on 13 August in Udine, Italy.

Inter Milan or Paris St-Germain will be waiting in the wings for Spurs as they meet in the Champions League final on Saturday, 31 May.

Daniel Levy would have set two targets for Ange this season 1) Champions League qualification 2) Win a trophy. He didn't say how to do it. Credit to Ange for doing it the unconventional way!

  15. When will the draw be for 2025-26 Champions League?published at 15:06 British Summer Time 22 May

The draw to determine who will play who in the Champions League league phase will take place on 28 August.

A reminder that under the new format, which debuted this season, teams will no longer play three opponents twice – home and away – but will instead face fixtures against eight different teams, playing half of those matches at home and half of them away

To determine the eight different opponents, the teams will initially be ranked in four seeding pots. Each team will then be drawn to play two opponents from each of these pots, playing one match against a team from each pot at home, and one away.

  16. Your questions answered - How much do Spurs earn?published at 15:02 British Summer Time 22 May

    Ask Me Anything

BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything team have been answering Europa League questions. Here's one about how much the final is worth.

Winners of the 2025 Europa League, Tottenham Hotspur, could receive up to £54.4m.

That figure is a combination of prize money for winning the competition and for reaching the league phase for the 2025-26 Champions League.

Spurs are guaranteed about £21m, with additional prize money awarded based on league position and for victories and draws.

The figure of £54.4m does not include prize money earned beyond the Champions League's last 16.

Tottenham's total prize money for winning the Europa League is around £26.5m.

Included in that is £5.9m awarded to both teams for reaching the final.

Should Spurs win all eight of their league phase matches in next season's Champions League, they will receive around £14.2m in prize money. On top of that, they would be awarded around £9.3m for reaching the Round of 16, as well as extra prize money based on their final league position.

Champions League participation is crucial, because it could generate over £100m from tickets, broadcast money, and sponsor bonuses.
