  8. 'Tottenham have had a better season than Arsenal'published at 13:10 British Summer Time 22 May

    Tottenham 1-0 Man Utd

    Mark Ogden
Senior writer for ESPN on the Football Daily podcast

He [Ange Postecoglou] has had a great season and he's won a trophy. I might be a bit controversial here now but Tottenham have had a better season than Arsenal. Let's go back to 1984 when Spurs won the UEFA Cup, where did Arsenal finish that season? Nobody knows. They have won a trophy.

Everybody talks about Spurs winning the UEFA Cup in 1984 and it was a big trophy, people are legends at the club. Nobody remembers where Arsenal finished that season. Winning a trophy is all about for football teams.

Those fans tonight have won a trophy, they've got a much happier end to the season than the Arsenal fans.

    Indeed they did, Richard.

Uefa did not present Cristian Romero, Son Heung-min or Rodrigo Bentacur with a medal on the field having seemingly run out yesterday evening.

However, Uefa has since released a statement: "To our great displeasure, we did not have enough medals available on stage during the trophy ceremony presentation due to an unexpected discrepancy in the player count, as more team members - including injured players - participated in the ceremony than initially anticipated.

"The missing medals were promptly delivered to the winning team in the dressing room, along with our sincerest apologies for the oversight."

Son did have a medal during his post-match interview with TNT Sports. James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, Timo Werner, Lucas Bergvall and Dejan Kulusevski were all ruled out for Spurs but joined their team-mates for the presentation ceremony.

Can't find the answer to this important question. Did Son and Romero get given medals in the end? They had run out during the ceremony...

  12. 'National treasure' - South Korea cheers Son after Spurs winpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 22 May

South Koreans are celebrating Tottenham captain Son Heung-min after he led the Spurs to its first trophy in 17 years.

Many said they felt a deep sense of pride when they saw Korea's flag draped around the 32-year-old, shortly after Tottenham won the Europa League championship in Spain on Wednesday, with one online user saying they "almost burst into tears" and another calling him a "national treasure".

Son has said the win made him feel like a "legend" and the "happiest man in the world."

It was also the first piece of silverware of Son's senior career. He has never won anything in Germany with Hamburg or Bayer Leverkusen, nor with South Korea's international team.

"The scene of you holding the trophy while wearing the Taegeukgi (flag) was deeply moving," read one comment on Naver News, South Korea's largest news aggregate website.

"It was obviously a team effort abut I'm so proud of him achieving these results. He worked so hard for it," said another comment.

Son thanked South Korean fans who stayed up late to watch the game live from Spain, which is behind South Korea by seven hours.

He apologised for "taking so long" to finally win a trophy.

"I hope those who don't like me will come to like me more because of this trophy," he told South Korean television.

One commenter summed it up by saying: "These days, politics, economy... everything has been frustrating, but Son Heung-min is a breath of fresh air."
