Ivan Juric most recently had a torrid time at Roma. He was appointed as their new boss in September, replacing the sacked Daniele De Rossi, but he failed to turn results around.

During his time in charge, a period of just under two months, he oversaw 12 games. He won four games, drew two and lost six.

He had had better fortune elsewhere. At Torino, where he was manager from 2021-2024, he recorded three mid-table finishes.

Juric was praised for his impressive results with Italian side Verona, as the club had a low budget.

"It's more than where we are in the table and where the opponent it. It is the next step in development in the way we want to play and act and also the reaction to the defeat."

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy on preparing against a side in Wolves with a new manager: "Of course you can do some research on what he [Vitor Pereira] has been doing in Saudi, how he has been playing in teams he has managed before. Also we can have a good look at what Wolves have been doing over the last month but of course there can be changes made.

"Will it be big change or minor? These are all questions that we have to face and prepare for. We also have to be prepared for some surprises."

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has faced the press before his side face Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday. He was first asked about Mads Hermansen's injury: "That is the question, we are still doing everything we can, Mads as well to make it for the game.

"It is a possibility that he can, that is the good news. It was worrying he had to leave the pitch at half-time. It was immediate assessment and treatment and rehab going on over the week so far. We are waiting to see how today and tomorrow go to see if he can play on Sunday."

On Wilfred Ndidi and Harry Winks: "Harry this week was fully part of team training so he is available for selection again which is very positive news for the squad. Wilfred is in his rehab, he is not on the pitch so he is not available for selection."

Southampton are close to appointing Ivan Juric as their new manager on an 18-month deal.

The Croatian is set to replace Russell Martin, who was sacked by the Saints on Sunday after their 5-0 thrashing by Tottenham.

Juric, 49, was most recently manager of Roma, who sacked him in November after just 12 matches in charge.

The Southampton job would mark Juric's first managerial role outside of Italy.

His deal is said to include a summer break clause.

Club sources say Juric was one of the two options in the frame as Ralph Hasenhuttl's replacement when Nathan Jones was appointed in November 2022.

The club is said to want a manager who can bring some solidity and discipline to the squad after Sunday's heavy defeat by Tottenham.

Ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday, former Manchester City defender Nedum Onouha and former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill discussed Spurs midfielder James Maddison's role in the team, on the latest episode of the Planet Premier League podcast.

The 28-year-old has featured in all of Spurs' Premier League matches this season, but has come on as a substitute in three of those games and has yet to complete a full 90 minutes in those 16 appearances.

He was replaced by Lucas Bergvall in the 78th minute during Spurs' dramatic 4-3 win against Manchester United on Thursday, with the game at 3-2.

Onouha described the situation as strange, saying, "this is somebody who was given the vice captaincy, so we probably in a really simplistic way believe that anybody who's going to take up that sort of leadership role will be a regular within the team."

The pundit went on to say that Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou was, "very passionate about having the speed up top," and that, he could "see how James Maddison at times doesn't fit into that."

Cahill said the lack of consistency must be, "frustrating," for Maddison, adding, "he must feel in his head that he delivers a lot of time that he does play."

Spurs podcaster Rosa Anderson on The Football Daily podcast: "I think my life flashed before my eyes, on several occasions throughout the second-half. I don't know how I did it, I did a lot of walking around and hiding behind corners and behind my sofa.

"I thought we were fine when we went 3-0 up, when we've won this season it has been by blitzing teams and we've won by big margins, like three goals and I thought it'll be alright but there is no legislating for chaotic goalkeeping, I guess. I feel bad for Fraser Forster, because he's done so well but he didn't have a good day."

Just as he thought he was navigating a way through Manchester United's injury issues, Ruben Amorim has been hit by some more.

He lost Mason Mount during the early stages of the Manchester derby on Sunday and last night, central defender Victor Lindelof was forced out.

The Swede has endured an injury-plagued season so far and only returned against Manchester City after nearly six weeks out.

He missed the start of the campaign with a toe problem and had hamstring and groin problems last season.

It's gone under the radar but he hasn't started a Premier League game since March. His contract is due to expire in the summer.

Privilege to be a Spurs season ticket holder? I'm a lifelong Spurs fan and season ticket holder - and the answer is no! Firstly, we pay a lot of money for the privilege and secondly, watching us throw away leads game after game is not enjoyable. Obviously it's better than watching Conte, but it's so frustrating to watch leads evaporate due to unnecessary errors and poor tactics. It's the same week after week - no one wants to turn Ange into Conte, but some simple adjustments to protect a lead isn't a great compromise!

    Tottenham 4-3 Man Utd

    Michael Brown
Former Tottenham midfielder on the Football Daily podcast

It was a bad night for the goalkeepers and let's be honest, they're the ones that save you, they have to stay with concentration and ultimately they just got it wrong.

Especially the Spurs goalkeeper [Fraser Forster] who has done so well since he's come in to cover.

Things change and they take risks and that's Ange Postecoglou's way, finding patience, keep believing, playing out but again it caused them all sorts of problems.

  19. Postpublished at 10:25 Greenwich Mean Time

He will be followed by Tottenham's Ange Postecoglou at 11:00 GMT.

    Don't go anywhere.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has already been in front of the media today before his side take on Tottenham on Sunday. He was hugely positive about Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou and his style of play. Here are some of his best lines from his conference:

    • On Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate: "These are the two still in red, so they do not train with us at the moment."
    • On Postecoglou: "For me his brand of football is more important and if he can combine it with winning something that would be so good for football in general because then people can stop talking about 'is it too attacking?' How on earth can you play too much attacking football?"
    • On Spurs: "I think it is a privilege to be a season ticket holder at Tottenham"
    • On Trent Alexander-Arnold wanting to be the best right-back in the world: "I like this in a player, this is something every player must have if you want to play at this level."
