Less than an hour in and I've already got to post a correction.

The little snowman at 07:21 GMT wasn't actually made by me. I took the picture, shivering, while somebody else sculpted.

Apologies to the true master craftsperson.

I may be in trouble when I get home.

  4. Did Northern Ireland get promoted last night?published at 07:40 Greenwich Mean Time

    Only just!

Northern Ireland threw away a two-goal lead in Luxembourg but a 2-2 draw was enough to earn promotion to League B in the Nations League.

Isaac Price and Conor Bradley gave Michael O'Neill's side a two-goal lead but the hosts hit back.

Quickfire goals by Seid Korac and Gerson Rodrigues stunned Northern Ireland and set up a tense final 15 minutes.

However, Northern Ireland held on to secure the point they needed to finish in top spot on Group C3.

    Strong start Jamie, strong start.

I definitely prefer Declan Ice to Declan Ricecake, which was a healthier alternative in our tuck shop XI.

Thanks Emma. We will be all over the England squad announcement a little later this morning.

  8. Injury issues as Wiegman set to name Lionesses squadpublished at 07:29 Greenwich Mean Time

BBC Sport women’s football news reporter at Wembley Stadium

Sarina Wiegman will name her latest Lionesses squad at Wembley Stadium this morning.

England have two friendly fixtures against the United States and Switzerland coming up as they prepare for Euro 2025.

But there are several injury concerns for Wiegman - so how many will make the squad?

Key forward Lauren Hemp has missed the last two matches with Manchester City due to a knee issue, while midfielder Ella Toone has a calf injury and did not feature for Manchester United this Sunday.

Aston Villa's Lucy Parker is out with an ankle injury, while Chelsea's Lauren James has not played since 12 October with a calf problem.

It means there could be a few new faces in the squad as Emma Hayes' USA return to Wembley at the end of the month.

Can't wait for your responses, we had a lot of fun with the 'What's in the international break tuck shop' chat yesterday.

Someone texted in to suggest Fabio Calippo just after we signed off.

    Also, it's snowing!!

There are currently three yellow weather warnings,, external in place for snow and ice in northern Scotland, northern England, and parts of Northern Ireland, the Midlands and north-east Wales.

There's been a tiny dusting outside my house so here's a little snowman I made at 05:00 GMT.

I'm looking for a name for it, preferably football-related.

    Cold Palmer anyone?

  12. Who will Scotland face in the promotion/relegation play-offs?published at 07:15 Greenwich Mean Time

The draw for the promotion/relegation play-offs will be held on 22 November 2024, at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Scotland could play any League B runner-up. So, at the moment, that could be Greece, Austria, Georgia or Wales.

But of course, things could change tonight.

  13. Have Scotland avoided relegation?published at 07:09 Greenwich Mean Time

    Not quite.

Scotland finished third in Group A1, meaning they will face a relegation play-off.

If they'd have lost to Poland they would've finished fourth, and dropped straight down into League B.

Scotland face a two-legged tie in the spring to decide their Nations League status and are likely to be in the third pot of seeds for the World Cup qualifying draw which takes place on Friday 13 December.

For long spells after John McGinn's goal it seemed like Scotland might steal a top-two place.

With Croatia trailing Portugal in Split and the Scots ahead, one more goal for either visiting side would have nudged Scotland above Croatia.

However, Josko Gvardiol levelled for Croatia to squeeze the last of the quarter-final hopes.

    You bet they did!

Scotland snatched a Nations League relegation lifeline after Andy Robertson’s stoppage-time header earned a last-gasp victory in Poland.

John McGinn gave the visitors a third-minute lead with a driven shot after a Ben Doak pass.

In the second half, Poland centre-back Kamil Piatkowski punctured the optimism with a stunning equaliser.

Scotland pushed late on and, in the 93rd minute, captain Robertson burst on to the end of a John Souttar cross to thump in an unlikely winner.
