It's hard to judge a team in pre-season. You can win all your friendlies and still make a poor start to the season.

    But Chelsea look sharp.

Former Brentford keeper Mark Flekken has been forced into a couple of neat saves to prevent the Blues from extending their lead.

Estevao Willian scored against his new club at the Club World Cup for Palmeiras and now scores on his unofficial debut at Stamford Bridge.

Of course, it was effectively an open goal for the 18-year-old but it was well taken.

It only adds to the folklore of a player many are expecting to become a superstar.

The Alexander Isak saga continues to cast a shadow on Tyneside.

Isak, who was subject of a bid from Liverpool last week, is not expected to feature against Espanyol or, indeed, Atletico Madrid tomorrow.

It will fall to Anthony Gordon and William Osula to fill in again over the next couple of days.

Although the pair have worked tirelessly in pre-season, Newcastle look light up front after losing Callum Wilson earlier this summer.

Gordon may be a winger by trade but, as it stands, it would be a surprise if the England international did not lead the line at Villa Park when the new season gets under way next week.
